At some point, when all this is settled, I would like the BC public to hold this person to account for her disinformation and the community harm it has wreaked. Well done @brishti.bsky.social getting more for the public record.
When asked by PressProgress for comment about Murray’s allusion to “backbench politicians” and conclusion that public money was not used to buy drugs, contrary to what she has claimed in the past, Sturko stood her ground.

“All I heard was a judgment that I think raises questions about funding that was provided by the government,” she said. “It’s disappointing that if the government was going to give money, that they weren’t more clear with these two individuals exactly what was exempt in their activity and what was not.”

One lawyer reviews an online application... That's all it takes to apprehend and hold someone for 72 hours??? Dangerous and unjust. People will absolutely end up in the emergency department in complex withdrawal.
Assessment determination: An independent commission member (lawyer) reviews the application and determines if an individual meets the criteria for an up to 72-hour assessment period. If criteria are met, the lawyer commission member issues an apprehension order and an assessment order. If not, the application is dismissed and the applicant will be provided with information on alternate care options.
Apprehension and conveyance: Police locate and transport the patient to a compassionate intervention centre for assessment. Police can transfer patient care to peace officers for conveyance.
Assessment and detox: Patients are under the care of a treatment team. They receive medical withdrawal support and/or initial stabilization, as well as screening, physical examinations, and other assessments to determine the risk factors associated with their substance use and addiction and their overall health and wellness.

So we did a thing. On Being Infectious. Presented at the #QueerPharmaConference held at the Freie Universität Berlin We spoke about the generative possibilities of HIV infection and its aesthetic (re)modulations. With @alexmcclelland.bsky.social
Alex is a white gay with a multiple b&w tattoos on his arms and has a high & tight cropped haircut. He wears a black t-shirt that says ‘Acid’ in a white serif font typeface. His arms are crossed in front of his chest and he is making a ‘gay thoughts’ face.
Mikiki is a white* gay** with one scratchy tattoo peeking out from between an aggressively styled black and fashion-misfitted t-shirt. They are bald and have a dangly crystal earring hanging from a safety pin. Their left hand is up in the air in a very gay way. Their face is scrunched up but their eyes are open. It looks weird. Two crisp gay whites hunch over a white work table while a video projection of Mariah Carey sings Hero live on a white wall. Same two dry whites wearing all black in same black and white room with a projection of Mierle Laderman Ukeles’ Maintenance Art from 1973. She is a white woman with shoulder length hair is on all fours scrubbing the stone stairs of the Wadsworth Atheneum.
Goth gays wearing black on the U-Bahn looking at each other. Same ‘Acid’ shirt, but now Mikiki’s precious Rick Owen’s sneaker boots are visible and their modified/hand-dyed (in tones of green blue white and black) tote bag is present at their feet. They are seated. The surrounding train car is grey.

So think about the really unreliable tabloids and web publications — Zero Hedge, the Daily Mail, Epoch Times, that set. What makes them unreliable isn’t that they’re always wrong, it’s that they go to great lengths to make it impossible to fact check them, and to phrase their slanders ambiguously.
