Alex Galt @alexgalt.com · 29/09/2026This is impressive... having dabbled in festivals it's amazing what they've pulled together to support the recovery of tornado-struck Menasha. 010
Alex Galt @alexgalt.com · 23/09/2026It was the f2.5. Wish I still had it! I sold all of my film gear except my Rolleiflex in 2005. 200
Alex Galt @alexgalt.com · 22/09/2026I haven't bought beef in a long time, but I recently picked up some bacon and was slack jawed by the cost of the good stuff! It's hard for me to accept the 'can't afford an EV' at face value. I picked up a used Chevy Bolt for about the same as an ICE alternative and it's saved me $ since. 110
Alex Galt @alexgalt.com · 22/09/2026My world is more government/nonprofit sustainability & clean energy, and same. The beef thing in particular is a huge cultural barrier. 1100
Alex Galt @alexgalt.com · 21/09/2026I'm out of the restaurant biz (sold in 2019), but no doubt they're getting hit with fuel surcharges on all of their deliveries right now. 000
Alex Galt @alexgalt.com · 19/09/2026I've had to get refills of my daily "workhorse" inks. But I have bottles I've been using for years. It will depend on your usage. I have about 10 pens that cost $5—$30 and two that cost $30—$100. Finding old pens at estate sales and such is a good hunt too. No one needs a Montblanc. 010

We were staying in the French Quarter, so I got up around daybreak and wandered around. They were just hosing down Bourbon Street... 093
Alex Galt @alexgalt.com · 17/09/2026The way Kamala Harris talked about a vague tax on the middle class without using the word 'tariff,' always bothered me. People didn't know what she was talking about, didn't connect it to Trump's actions. 110
Alex Galt @alexgalt.com · 16/09/2026That's some good journalism, I've been wondering about this program. My kid is part of that second cohort, and while it saved us a little anxiety (though I never doubted they'd get in), it never felt particularly equitable to me. 000

Alex Galt @alexgalt.com · 13/09/2026You're so good at distilling things so that we can talk about them more easily. Thanks for that. 000
Alex Galt @alexgalt.com · 08/09/2026One of mine is, the other got off to a good start and then, seemingly, lost interest. So, based on that scientific study, parenting isn't a factor. 000

I walked out with armfuls—mostly photography and Pre-Columbian North American history. None of it stuff that I was looking for. I wish I'd seen your post yesterday, I would have checked. (3/3) 110

So we did a quick turn around in the parking lot of a popcorn shop (this is in Door County, which is to Chicago what the Hamptons is to NYC), to check it out. We discovered that the (2/3) 110
Alex Galt @alexgalt.com · 07/09/2026I love the hyper specific book mission! Good luck in your search. I had the opposite experience yesterday. In our wanderings, my wife and I passed a once glorious used bookstore—possibly the best in Wisconsin—that has been closed since the Pandemic. The stock there, which had grown oppressively(1/3) 110
Alex Galt @alexgalt.com · 04/09/2026I can remember a time when people would bring handheld DVD players onto the subway and be performative main character types amongst the novel and newspaper readers (reading a newspaper in a crowded train is a lost art). 010
Alex Galt @alexgalt.com · 03/09/2026Not that this is a great photo, though I do like it for some reason. But this retaining wall and the trees you see above it were torn out last week, and this arrangement of things and light will never happen again. The most mundane photos become documents of their time. #BelieveInFilm #Photography 0140
Alex Galt @alexgalt.com · 02/09/2026I put up some new shelves and it pleased me to put my cameras on display temporarily. I’ll return most of them to a dust-free drawer when I get over the novelty of having a spot that fits them all. The Rolleiflex is my favorite. #BelieveInFilm 140
Alex Galt @alexgalt.com · 31/08/2026If you have been be-deviled by a Canon Pixma printer, the solution (pun intended) may just well be distilled water : isopropyl alcohol : ammonia in a 10 : 2 : 1 ratio. My printer has been non-functional for 2 years and following the instructions in the attached video resuscitated it! Alex Galt @alexgalt.com · 22/08/2026Saw it with my 18-year old, we thought it was fun. My question is: why did they choose to set it in the 1980s? 110
