French Market, New Orleans, 2019 #Photography #NewOrleans #StreetPhotography Another photo that I realized I've never shared before. I like this one. We were staying in the French Quarter, so I got up around daybreak and wandered around. They were just hosing down Bourbon Street...

Not that this is a great photo, though I do like it for some reason. But this retaining wall and the trees you see above it were torn out last week, and this arrangement of things and light will never happen again. The most mundane photos become documents of their time. #BelieveInFilm #Photography

I put up some new shelves and it pleased me to put my cameras on display temporarily. I’ll return most of them to a dust-free drawer when I get over the novelty of having a spot that fits them all. The Rolleiflex is my favorite. #BelieveInFilm

Just learned that Glen Hansard died today in a motorbike crash, 56 years old. In addition to being a great songwriter, he was a great interpreter of Jason Molina’s songs. I loved him for shining a light on another artist who does too damn young.

This is unconscionable. I've been to Chaco Canyon twice and it's incredible. Tthe landscape is part of the meaning, there really can't be a "buffer zone" large enough. Filling this it with oil wells would be an obscenity. Consider leaving a public comment. #BelieveInFilm #Rolleiflex

Here's a photo I took with a Tourist, looks like I might have had a little trouble getting the film on to the reel (early days). Having one of these more or less fall into my lap is what set me back on the path of film. It's a basic camera, but Kodak always knew how to deliver the goods.

Here's a #FoundPhoto for Sunday evening. This gent and his (presumably) grandchild had their photo taken in 1919. I was taken with it because you don't often see casual photography of this quality around. Picked it up in an antique mall! The context of the photo suggests this is in Green Bay, Wisc.
This is an old print from 1919 that I found. It's a fine looking gent seated in a garden with a grandchild on his knee.

I love making these, they're kind of magical. We fell in love with my father-in-law's Kodachrome stereo slides of the family from the 1950s, so I picked up a Kodak Stereo Camera. This is from this past summer, up here in Wisconsin.

For #FountainPenDay2025... I’ve been using refillable fountain pens since 2017. It was another thing I could stop treating as disposable. (I used to blow through Pilot G-2s.) These are more fun. I’ve misplaced 2 pens, but thrown away 0. I’ve IDed these in the alt text if you’re curious.

Honeycrisp, all the way. You just need to get them at The Apple Store, where they sell number 2s more cheaply because they have invisible faults. (A friend of mine from out of town once needed an iPhone cable and was led here by Google maps!)
