Alex Figar @alexfigar.bsky.social · 08/10/2026The Steam Frame is a headset I would finally prefer to develop VR games with over the Lenovo Explorer. #Godot #VR 031
Alex Figar @alexfigar.bsky.social · 06/10/2026I fear hotels may have cooked with the desktop coffee machine. 000
Alex Figar @alexfigar.bsky.social · 04/10/2026You can pair a bluetooth keyboard and mouse and the KDE Desktop just hovers in the air with the monochrome pass through behind it. You can use the virtual keyboard instead but its slow. Atm I'm using RDP to use Godot and then just putting the headset on and pressing play. Its just very flexible. 010

Alex Figar @alexfigar.bsky.social · 02/10/2026The Steam Frame is so nice to develop on. I have tailscale setup and the Godot editor running natively on it I can't believe how nice the workflow is. 130

Alex Figar @alexfigar.bsky.social · 13/01/2026This internal monologue shits exhausting. Spent the morning writing a script, my social battery is now empty and I've only been talking to myself. 010
Alex Figar @alexfigar.bsky.social · 08/08/2025You should peg a coconut at those teammates and watch their body turn into a beyblade as they reach terminal velocity. 010
Alex Figar @alexfigar.bsky.social · 17/07/2025Whoops accidentally spent a month creating low poly pixel art materials in blender instead of doing actual work... youtu.be/a09hcmgdrO4 #gamedev #b3dyoutu.beLow Poly Pixel Art - Devlog #7YouTube video by Alex Figar 093
Alex Figar @alexfigar.bsky.social · 28/05/2025This PBR, procedural, pixel art... thing is working better than expected. The level looks ugly but all those rivets are expressed using just a normal map and the base color texture is procedural. #b3d #gamedev 051
Alex Figar @alexfigar.bsky.social · 26/05/2025It really depends on what software you use frequently. For me it took about 4 weeks. I still occasionally run into something annoying (like Davinci Resolve not playing nice with AAC) but it’s been pretty good for the last 6 months. Finally ditched Adobe as well. 020
Alex Figar @alexfigar.bsky.social · 16/05/2025Just got some pixel art normal maps generating as well. #b3d #blender #indiedev 050
Alex Figar @alexfigar.bsky.social · 16/05/2025I've been playing around with some procedural pixel art materials in blender. Got something looking kind of like rusty metal. #b3d #blender #indiedev 150
Alex Figar @alexfigar.bsky.social · 25/04/2025Even if I did want it, with the amount of power it consumes I just don’t see how it will ever be a viable alternative to actual people. 1190

Alex Figar @alexfigar.bsky.social · 16/03/2025I want more headsets that let you flip up the screen. Such a hassle when tryna make small changes to a scene. 000
Alex Figar @alexfigar.bsky.social · 14/02/2025The harbour views from Taronga are amazing. The hills a bit steep but it’s worth it. 000
Alex Figar @alexfigar.bsky.social · 12/02/2025I reckon alot of fantasy music could be turned into sci-fi if you just replace the lutes with electric guitars. 010

To get the iconic sunset columns to cast sharp shadows, I made sure that they aligned with the pixel grid of the texture. Here you can see the shadow map I painted. 231337323

Alex Figar @alexfigar.bsky.social · 05/10/2024I've been messing around with planet rendering in the Flax engine, finished up on geometry generation and its stupid fast. 070
