Per the D.C. CFO, the impact of the federal government layoffs may finally be hitting the city's revenues. He says in a new revenue estimate that sales/withholding tax collections for October were down, potentially reflecting the layoffs taking effect.

I’m at “DC History & the Quest for Democracy” at UDC. Dr. Derek Musgrove starts us off with a history lesson, explaining that in the 1870s Congress decided it would rather get rid of local democracy in DC altogether than let emancipated people have the right to vote here.
