Wet weather returns across parts of the north and west over the next 24 hours. ☔🌧️ The heaviest rainfall is expected across southwest Scotland and northwest England, where some places could see 30-40 mm of rain, with locally higher totals over hills.

M&S saw the plausible weather forecast for 2056, peaking at 45°C, that we produced with the Met Office and made the decision to invest in upgraded refrigeration. This comes after some of their fridges brown down during the recent heatwave. www.independent.co.uk/news/busines...

The UK June record was duly broken yesterday with 36.1C at Gosport, and it will fall again today. This spell also features high humidity and overnight temperatures. My husband commented with surprise on the dewy grass when he took his breakfast out. Very unusual to have dew points widely over 20C.

Hi Dominic, thanks for watching, sorry if I wasn’t clear but we don’t really use humidex to ‘derive’ the warnings. It’s just another tool (one of many) to look at where the highest discomfort levels may be. Was hoping to give a longer explanation, but it was a bit of a busy one. Maybe next time.
