Because of Donald Trump, Australians are paying the equivalent of over $11US dollars a gallon for diesel. Australia is utterly dependent on diesel.

A male Burns Dragon (Amphibolurus burnsi) from Coolatai NSW. I collected the Holotype of this species back in 1984. This is a common species in the woodlands of the north-west slopes of NSW. #Wildlife #Lizard #Nature
An Agamid lizard, about 35cm (14 inches) in length, with a spinose crest on the back of its neck and a raised low vertabral crest surveys his domain. These fast-moving lizards feed on invertebrates and smaller lizards.

Your body already has a built-in weight loss system that works like Wegovy, Ozempic and Mounjaro – food and your gut microbiome
Weight loss and diabetes drugs target regulatory pathways involved in metabolism that the microbes in your gut and certain molecules from food already play a key role in regulating.

Ron and Cassie DeSantis: These two crooks stole $10 million from a settlement with a charity, wired it to Cassie’s fake “charity,” laundered it through two puppet organizations, and then used it for political ads in an election year. They should be in jail.

Why are the thugs invading the West Bank of Palestine called "settlers" and not "illegal invaders", or "terrorists" or "Land thieves"? "Settlers" seems deliberately benign as if to revive a sense of nostalgia from the funding nation, and these bastards are anything but benign.

In the granite belt around the northern New England Tableland (Tenterfield-Stanthorpe) lives one of the most camouflaged lizards in Australia, the Wyberba Leaf-tailed Gecko, Saltuarius wyberba. #Reptiles #OzWildlife #Herpetology #Camouflage #OzNature
A lichen-covered granite rock face with a gecko on it that can only be seen with concentration. As the photo was taken at night the expanded black pupil is the most obvious indication of the lizard's presence. A spiny outline and flattened body combines with exquisite patterning to render this gecko almost invisible.

A Tawny Frogmouth (Podargus strigoides) from near Wingen in NSW appears unimpressed. These nocturnal nightjars do excellent stick impersonations if they think they've been spotted during the day (or on brightly moonlit nights.
A Tawny Frogmouth, Podargus strigoides, a large-headed bird with orange eyes and a cluster of feathers sprouting from the base of its wide short bill. The plumage is mottled greys and creams, and the bird has a relatively short tail. Although these nocturnal hunters look supeficially like owls, a cursory look at their diminutive feet will put an end to the idea that these pathetic appendages could be used for anything more dangerous than hanging onto a branch. It's that massive yellow-lined beak hidden by feathers that is the gaping maw into which their hapless prey descend.

The extraordinarily long tongue of the Yellow-spotted Monitor (Varanus panoptes) is a valuable direction finding chemical brush, picking up chemical cues and passing them into the sensitive Jacobsens Organs in the roof of the mouth for analysis. #OzWildlife #Reptiles #Herpetology
A Yellow-spotted Monitor extends its tongue, which is longer than its head, as it searches for frogs, lizards, snakes and small mammals. These active predators are wide-ranging and have been an important for for Aboriginal peoples across northern Australia. The populations have ben decimated by the introduced Cane Toad (Rhinella marina) but appear to be recovering in areas where these magnificent lizards have learned to avoid these toxic amphibians. These lizards can reach a total length of over 1.5 metres.

An old photo of a Children's Python, Antaresia childreni, a nocturnal hunter of frogs, lizards and small mammals from across northern Australia. This one is from the Kimberely Region. You can see the small heat-sensing pits on the lower lips. #OzWildlife #Reptiles #Snakes
A Children's Python hangs in a loose S shape horizontally from a tree branch in the Kimberley region of Western Australia. It has a white belly, but its sides are a tan brown with darker blotches. The heat-sensing labial pits with which this small constricting snake locates its mammalian prey are prominent.

One of the most extraordinary books on #Bipolar disorder with major implications for mental health interventions through the gut-brain axis. #BipolarDisorder #MentalHealth #GutBrainAxis #GutMicrobiome
"A Gut Mood Solution - A groundbreaking strategy for managing bipolar disorders" By Professor Gordon Parker, founder of the Black Dog Institute is described by Norman Doidge, the author of "The Brain That Changes Itself" as 'A balanced, scientifically explained and utterly fascinating account of major breakthrough cases in bipolar disorder.'Back cover reads: "If you are diagnosed with bipolar disorder, conventional medications aren't always effective – and they often have disturbing side-effects. What if there was a completely different treatment? Jane Dudley was disabled by a severe bipolar disorder for twenty years. Conventional treatments failed and she was desperate. Her husband, Alex, an ecologist, discovered the growing research about our gut microbiome and its powerful influence on physical and mental disorders, including mood changes. The Dudleys felt they had nothing to lose. In 2016, under close monitoring from her psychiatrist, Jane undertook a radical fortnightly treatment. Within a year, she had completely recovered from this destructive disorder and remains symptom-free over seven years later. Stories from others who have since achieved success are also included. Leading international expert on bipolar disorders Professor Gordon Parker believes we are at the threshold of a revolution in psychiatric care for those with mood disorders. A Gut Mood Solution explains the gut-brain-mood relationship, drawing on the knowledge of respected experts. Parker outlines the evidence as to how a faecal microbiota transplant (FMT) could bring bipolar disorder under control for those not responding to orthodox medications, and addresses the practical issues and health cautions surrounding the treatment. 'This book is the best thing to happen in the bipolar field for a long time.' – Professor Emad M. El-Omar, Editor in Chief, Gut Journal. 'The clinical observations in this carefully crafted book are breathtaking.' – Professor Nicholas J. Talley, School of Medicine and Public Health, University of Newcastle.

Climate is a pattern, and the pattern has changed. = Climate Change
Graphic reading, “The difference between ‘There used to be hot summers too.’ and climate crisis.” Below is a temperature-anomaly chart showing mostly blue, cooler-than-average years in the earlier record, shifting dramatically toward sustained red, warmer-than-average years in recent decades. Occasional earlier red bars are labelled “These were hot summers,” while the sustained cluster of increasingly warm recent years is labelled “This is climate change.”
