This Spanish tortilla restaurant has such a cool logo. I absolutely love it: amatxi-tortillas.es
Amatxi (“ah-ma-chi”) logo on a black background. The logo has a distinctive pill shape with scalloped edges and reads in a very stylized font.

The Meaning of Labor Day Photographed: This photo was taken of miners at the end of their shift during the Gilded Age before they were unionized. This #LaborDay remember the blood, sweat, and tears that those before us paid to give the working class the basic rights we enjoy today.
An old photo of men covered in dirt all crammed together in a multi-level cage-looking contraption. Two women look on.

Threads post by @laurajhawk: “Okay, hear me out: How about we support Gavin Newsome and Cory Booker and Pete Buttigieg and Elizabeth Warren and everyone else who’s fighting the good fight, and leave it till later (way later) to worry about who The Candidate might turn out to be? We really really need more than one Democrat doing good things, and also we HAVE more than one Democrat doing good things; it’s not all about the presidency.”Tweet by @mark.cokenour: “Libs, listen closely: No one’s asking you to vote for Gavin Newsome. Relax. We’re all fighting fascism together. Right now, Newsome is leading that charge. Next month, it might be someone else—and you should back *them* in their fight too. Simple stuff, friends.”

Summer hasn't arrived along coastal California this year. From the Bay Area to parts of Southern California millions have experienced the coolest June 1-August 1 period on record since at least 1979. #california #summer #weather #sanfrancisco #bayarea #centralcoast #socal

I’m in Japan and on my flight to Tokyo, someone stole my AirPods. I’m in Osaka now and I checked FindMy and what do ya know, the thief is too. I tracked them to this Comfort Inn. How can I find them?

I think I’m on to something here. I’ve invented a pisto manchego sandwich. It’s pisto (veggies cooked in tomato sauce [ #Spanish ratatouille, also similar to shakshouka]), a fried #egg, and rice fried with cheese to add extra crunch. #food

“Critics of the state’s leadership point to crime rates, high taxes, and high property costs as reasons for residents fleeing to other less regulated states, like TX and FL” Yet California built the world’s 5th-largest economy, outproducing the UK and rivaling Germany’s GDP with half the population
Graph showing California population over time: about 37.2 million in 2010, 37.6 million in 2012, almost 38 million in 2014, continuing until it peaked at nearly 40 million in 2020, quickly dropped by a few hundred thousand and has since started to grow again and is nearly where it was pre-COVID

So I discovered this floor lamp, instantly fell in love with it, and excitedly looked up where I could get one. It costs—and I’m not making this up—over $6,000. So now I’m sad.

Southern #California is officially back in drought after a record-dry start to the winter. SoCal, depending on where you live, hasn't experienced a significant storm in 8-9+ months. In addition, 2 very wet winters in a row—especially for the LA area—have built up lots of fuel for wild fires…
U.S. Drought Monitor map of California. Most of the Central Valley and the western half of Souther California is “abnormally dry”, and as you head eat there are bands of “moderate drought” followed by “severe drought” and “extreme drought,” which follows along the CA-AZ border where the Colorado river runs.

Here’s a crazy fact for you: #Spain and #Germany have now seen basically the exact same amount of economic growth post-2008. Would have been unthinkable to people during most of the 2010s. Spain has seen ~10 percentage points more cumulative growth since 2017.

I can’t find the exact one, but I saw a Jackson Pollock in a museum and it blew me away. Having only seen his work as JPEGs online, I thought he must be the most overrated artist of all time. Then when I actually saw one, it made all the other abstract modern artists in the MUSEUM look like amateurs

We need to close the door on this chapter of American history, and I know that former President Trump won't do that. He will divide, he will insult, he will find new ways to be more un-American than he already has been, and we, the people, will get nothing but more anger.

That's enough reason for me to share my vote with all of you. I want to move forward as a country, and even though I have plenty of disagreements with their platform, I think the only way to do that is with Harris and Walz.

Vote this week. Turn the page and put this junk behind us.

And even if you disagree with me, vote, because that's what we do as Americans.

This one from Arnold is the rare GOP endorsement that isn’t targeting moderate never-trumpers, educated suburbanites or traditional conservatives, it’s directly targeting those low-info/apathetic voters who distrust politics/politicians & get most of their info from podcasts (like Joe Rogan)
Arnold Schwarzenegger tweet: I don’t really do endorsements. I’m not shy about sharing my views, but I hate politics and don’t trust most politicians.

I also understand that people want to hear from me because I am not just a celebrity, I am a former Republican Governor.

My time as Governor taught me to love policy and ignore politics. I’m proud of the work I did to help clean up our air, create jobs, balance the budget, make the biggest infrastructure investment in state history, and take power from the politicians and give it back to the people when it comes to our redistricting process and our primaries in California.

That’s policy. It requires working with the other side, not insulting them to win your next election, and I know it isn’t sexy to most people, but I live it when I can help make people’s lives better with policies, like I still do through my institute at USC, where we fight for clean air and stripping the power from the politicians who rig the system against the people.Let me be honest with you: I don’t like either party right now. My Republicans have forgotten the beauty of the free market, driven up deficits, and rejected election results. Democrats aren’t any better at dealing with deficits, and I worry about their local policies hurting our cities with increased crime.

It is probably not a surprise that I hate politics more than ever, which, if you are a normal person who isn’t addicted to this crap, you probably understand.

I want to tune out.

But I can’t . Because rejecting the results of an election is as un-American as it gets. To someone like me who talks to people all over the world and still knows America is the shining city on a hill, calling America is a trash can for the world is so unpatriotic, it makes me furious.

And I will always be an American before I am a Republican.

That’s why, this week, I am voting for Kamala Harris and Tim Walz.I'm sharing it with all of you because I think there are a lot of you who feel like I do. You don't recognize our country. And you are right to be furious.

For decades, we've talked about the national debt. For decades, we've talked about comprehensive immigration reform that secures the border while fixing our broken immigration system. And Washington does nothing.

The problems just keep rolling, and we all keep getting angrier, because the only people that benefit from problems aren't you, the people. The only people that benefit from this crap are the politicians who prefer having talking points to win elections to the public service that will make Americans' lives better.

It is a just game to them. But it is life for my fellow Americans. We should be pissed! But a candidate who won't respect your vote unless it is for him, a candidate who will send his followers to storm the Capitol while he watches with a Diet Coke, a candidate who has shown no ability to work to pass any policy besides a tax cut that helped his donors and other rich people like me but helped no one else else, a candidate who thinks Americans who disagree with him are the bigger enemies than China, Russia, or North Korea - that won't solve our problems.
It will just be four more years of bullshit with no results that makes us angrier and angrier, more divided, and more hateful.
We need to close the door on this chapter of American history, and I know that former President Trump won't do that. He will divide, he will insult, he will find new ways to be more un-American than he already has been, and we, the people, will get nothing but more anger.

Elon Musk made a post yesterday saying that his X algorithm is Open Source (it no longer is). Since then it has received 2 Community Notes which have over 1000 votes each, 90% of them being votes to approve them as true, yet the notes are being hidden from the gen public. So much for free speech.
Elon Musk on Twitter (X): “That was hilarious 😂

Unlike the other platforms, our algorithm is open source!

And if you interact and argue with ‘right wing’ accounts, which Cuban does a lot, the algorithm will assume that’s what you *want* to do and give you more of it lmao.”1st bug report: “The Twitter algorithm was indeed open-sourced but has not been updated since Jul 13, 2023.
Since July 13th, there have been numerous updates that were not committed to the public repository. Some updates Elon commented on. Therefore, at the very least, it is outdated.”

2nd bug report: “The Twitter algorithm was made open source last year. The X algorithm has never been published. And the Twitter algorithm hasn’t been updated in a year”
