Is it me, or is the quality of software going down? In the past few months I have started to notice that software that use to work, is now having issues. No major issues, but small hiccups that make it really annoying to work with. e.g. notifications that reappear, read to unread, stuff like that.

I used it in the past, but I found myself using too "many things" and confusing people. Instead, we started with a big picture event storming and later moved to a detailed picture. Using some of the concepts from Event Modeling without going into the details.

I'm lucky that I'm part of a company where collaboration and experimentation is valued and expected. AI is central to this, but it's not like AI only replacing collaboration for example. AI as a tool to help us do our job better.

I don't know, being at C-level today is tough. You moved from a growing market where everyone is going up to a tough market that's hard to navigate. Too much going on in the world. I can understand they are aiming for a silver bullet solution. Because everyone else is doing the same.

Plus, users share how fast they can adopt change. Right now, I see that we are deploying more outages as ever as an industry. And, we are adding/moving buttons faster than ever. I don't know how GTM teams manage all those communications.

One challenge I see with "ship features faster" is that: - it's more noise to know what adds value, what destroys value - adding more code without refactoring will make each addition harder - if you don't delete code, it means you aren't learning from shipping faster, you just YOLO it

I also agree that coding wasn't the bottleneck. But there are operating models that get a benefit from "faster code production". One thing is that sometimes you don't know if something doesn't matter until it's in prod. If I can get that into prod faster and know if it matters, super!

A lot of "aha moments". Those learnings that aren't part of the code or any system that AI can fetch. Those learnings that you have because you spoke with users and empathized with their pains. We need to combine tools, not to replace them.

Another good thing of using EventStorming was that we had a human speed level of thinking. We gave enough space to think and debate. No rush to accept the next prompt. That helped us to have this double level thinking, and go beyond the surface.

Now, we will combine that session with specific system investigations with AI. So, instead of asking Claude to just find stuff. We can be specific on what we aim to achieve. Let's see if we are more effective this way

I also have dyslexia. So, all this text based AI just adds more cognitive load on top of everything. Sometimes it is good that we optimize human understanding and not AI throughput. We go slow now to go faster later.

We need to make those shared models better, so we talk the same language when using AI we know what we aim to achieve as a team. I'm a visual person, I need diagrams, sticky notes, a way to be sure I understand what others mean, and being sure others understood what I meant.

Today we did a #EventStorming session. Only humans, no AI. 0 tokens consumed. Like psychopaths 😂 Jokes aside. A shared model of what's being considered is hard to achieve. AI at an individual level doesn't solve that.
