They just listened to her, took her pain seriously, and then of course they charged her out the nose for bullshit that didn’t work, but they at least pretended to care, which was more than her real doctor did, and he was also not treating her chronic pain.

She’s not MAHA, but my mom started seeing a homeopathic “doctor” after her real doctor kept dismissing her chronic pain. The crank’s treatments didn’t work either, but I went with her to an appointment once, and they were so much more attentive and spent way more time with her than her real doctor.

these sorts of things are great. there is a similar-looking abandoned railroad depot/maintenance building a few miles from me (rural midwest). closest you can get is the fence, where you can see it at the end of a long gravel road framed by overgrown trees. no crows, but deer like to chill out front

What's gutting about this is that Juniper seems to have had a family who supported and loved her, she was in a community that has been explicitly welcoming to trans people, and a man still murdered her. She was living the life so many trans people can only dream of, and it simply didn't matter.

i’ve been thinking of what could even be said about such a tragedy. someone said it best that trans people are “born so late and die so young”. we uproot our lives and transition and live more life than anyone else ever does and society punishes us for it. we deserve better
