Where is the middle line in politics???

How have we got to the point where this passes for political campaigning? Whatever your view of Labour, branding a democratic party “Vote for Genocide” is not serious political debate. Challenge policies, challenge politicians, make your case but politics is poorer when activism replaces argument.

You can support Palestinians, criticise Israel and demand peace. But marching on 7 October the anniversary of Hamas’s murdering 1,200 people and taking 251 hostages is needlessly provocative. If your aim is to reduce hatred and bring people together, there are 364 better days to make your point.

@lbcwatchuk.bsky.social you might enjoy this one 10:28 @mrjamesob.bsky.social explaining how we’ve monetised everything, including healthcare to Water at the tap and how capitalism has made that possible. 10:31 “Don’t forget, you can subscribe to LBC…” The timing is absolutely magnificent. 😂

This is exactly the problem. A conflict with generations of history, terrorism, occupation, failed peace talks and innocent victims on both sides gets reduced to ‘pick a side’. Ed Sheeran is a musician, not a Middle East diplomat. He’s allowed to play music without issuing a foreign policy position

I’m no Reform fan, but Labour can’t attack big donors while relying on millions from the back pockets of the unions. Either back a real cap across the board, or admit your just trying to stop reform

Making big calls about Israel and Palestine without setting foot there in over a decade? Unacceptable. Leadership demands firsthand scrutiny! Another move showing how incapable Ed Miliband is

Apparently in the Green Party a policy isn’t ‘proposed’ when someone proposes it for debate. Very environmentally friendly use of language fully recyclable.

Scotland raised its top income tax rate to 48% to make the rich pay more. New HMRC data suggests the result may have been the opposite: Scotland collected about £22m less. Wealth tax doesn’t work stop with lazy policies !

Called me a “Tory wanker”, an “antagonistic wanker” and a “pub bore”, told me to “have a shit evening”, then blocked me and deleted the replies. Apparently that’s what passes for political discourse on the left these days. .

NO COUNTRY that hosts an international sports event should be allowed to deny entry to its competitors. It’s CHEATING by immigration chicanery. ONLY FIFA or IOC should have the authority to deny participation to an athlete, staff or official. Any country that refuses that should not get to host

Empires and governments, rarely collapse because they lack talent they collapse because enough people stop doing the hard, boring things that kept them strong in the first place. That’s what wrong with the current government

VAT is 20% on fuel that alone means the Treasury collects about 3.4p extra tax per litre. The UK uses roughly 840 million litres of fuel a week. That’s £28 million extra tax in just one week from the price rise. If VAT on fuel was cut to 15%, pump prices would fall around 8p per litre overnight.

It’s hard not to feel for Keir Starmer when senior cabinet ministers like David Lammy appear unaware of basic facts about Cyprus. That level of knowledge should be the absolute minimum in his role

Energy prices rising again… but don’t worry. Ed Miliband told us we’re less reliant on gas and oil because of Labour! Great British Energy still isn’t producing anything so for now we’ll just have to hope the wind picks up.

Boris wasn’t pushed out over all his scandals he was pushed out over trust. So why are the standard suddenly become different with Labour when Starmer is under pressure? Either trust matters, or it doesn’t. Pick one.

Keir Starmer saying he wasn’t aware of the Alaa Abd El-Fattahn is even more worrying than if he did know. We have a PM who said this was one of his top priorities and yet didn’t know all the facts !

Quote from Starmer “Alaa's case has been a top priority for my government since we came to office” PR nightmare if you really think about it. So much more should be top priority and I would stay well clear of this. Once again he can not read the room

What’s amazing to see is this government missed a wide open goals in both budgets. If they introduced a 2% Covid Recovery Tax on incomes over £45k AND an 8% Corporation Tax surcharge on profits over £200k, it could raise over £12bn in just 2 years!

The new NI cap on pension contributions only hits people using salary sacrifice mostly private sector workers trying to save more. MPs and other public sector defined benefit pensions aren’t affected. Once again, it’s ordinary workers who take the hit.
