This was a galvanising discussion from a brilliant panel. They covered - amongst other things - the urgent need for public and civil society deliberation and empowerment to repair respect and trust in politics, and to shift the democratic doom loop to a hope loop.

Proposed reforms are a start, but not enough "The highest-profile political exchange of the week... [PMQs] does normalise the idea that politics is a game of hurling insults... it feeds most people’s low trust in politics and politicians, which is severely undermining the health of our democracy."

Excellent words from @alanrenwick.bsky.social "The core of democracy lies in respectful dialogue across diverse perspectives among and between representatives and the wider public. Such dialogue is currently badly corroded." www.prospectmagazine.co.uk/views/letter...

Why airport expansion doesn't make economic sense 👇 - None of the new passengers were travelling for business purposes. - Incoming tourists were outnumbered 3-to-1 by UK residents travelling abroad. - Almost two-thirds of new airport capacity was captured by UK frequent flyers.
