i for one have full confidence in the trump administration's ability to adequately refit a plane donated by a foreign government into a highly secure mobile command center for the united states executive, following their unquestionably successful renovation of A Large Pool of Water

He’s misquoting a classic example of a loaded question. The correct phrasing is “Have you stopped beating your wife?”—both yes and no concede the embedded assumption that you were beating her in the first place.

the original post is… spectacularly equivocal! also the AEC was dissolved in 1974 so definitely gonna need its equivalent to destroy (or witness the destruction of) the aforementioned Dust, either there (or elsewhere)

There are no technical or compliance reasons to double the size of symmetric keys in response to the threat of quantum computers. This common misunderstanding of Grover's algorithm risks wasting limited resources that should go towards deploying actually urgent post-quantum algorithms.

Quantum Computers Are Not a Threat to 128-bit Symmetric Keys
There is no need to update symmetric key sizes as part of the post-quantum transition, due to the details of how Grover's algorithm scales. Most authorities agree.

Marie Sharp’s!! And don’t get Melinda’s, it’s an inferior rip off (they partnered with Marie Sharp and stole her recipes). My favorite flavors are the mango habanero and the smoky habanero (caution: it’s very smoky!!) - www.mariesharps.bz/product/pure... - www.mariesharps.bz/product/smok...

For example, comprehension of narrative or fiction writing is roughly equivalent for reading and listening, but reading is better for material that benefits significantly from self-pacing, re-reading, and illustration, such as textbooks on technical topics, which jibes with my personal experience.

Some other relevant studies: - journals.sagepub.com/doi/full/10.... Recent meta-analysis: journals.sagepub.com/doi/abs/10.3... Current understanding seems to be reading and listening are roughly equivalent, but there are some advantages to reading in certain contexts/conditions.

great piece, @sarahjeong.bsky.social! noticed a possible minor issue. in the nyc subway photo before/after the difference is either so subtle that i can’t spot it or the same “before” photo was accidentally used for both the “real” and “edited” photos

much better is to halve the avocado, then press on the back of the half with the pit to pop it out. might mush the avocado a little but much better than a trip to the ER!

Tesla's 71% drop in profit compared to last year is obviously bad, but it's even worse than that number suggests because the company sold *more* regulatory credits this quarter than Q1 2024. If you take away the regulatory credits in both quarters the drop is actually 120% (into the red, to boot)

Good framing from AOC www.npr.org/transcripts/...
INSKEEP: Would you like a president to go in and break some china and mess things up, even if you don't like the way this president is trying to do that?

OCASIO-CORTEZ: I think when we talk about breaking things, messing things up - I mean, to the FAA? No. To the NIH? No. To our ability to contain Ebola before it gets on a plane and comes into the United States? No. I don't want someone being reckless. I actually don't want someone taking a wrecking ball to someone's chemotherapy to just see what happens.

Now, I do think that we can examine certain things like Medicare Advantage - that I think is a scam - that in the name of so-called efficiency, ironically enough, we have handed over huge amounts of health care disbursements to private insurers who are pocketing it. Sure, yeah, let's go after that. But I don't think we just destroy everything that we have worked so hard for as a country to become innovative, to become just, to have some of the only lifelines that people have in this country to a roof over their head or food in their children's stomach. No, I don't think that we gamble with that.
