Soccer is my favorite sport and always will be, but Jesus Christ they've got to do something about this VAR issue. Every exciting moment devolves into legalistic nitpicking and standing around. For a match like this to end with Zapruder analysis and trigonometry is simply not fun!!!

50 years ago today, Czechoslovakia's Antonín Panenka did this and set off a trend of penalty taking that many have imitated since, both successfully and with some ridiculous failures. The Czechs and West Germans had drawn 2-2 after extra time in Belgrade, and #Panenka scored this to win the Euros.
