Someone in Oppo should ask how it was "acceptable" to the CPU and Nats to use Chapman, who threw molotov coctails at Ngāi Tahu Murihiku Marae and a school, got 6 months' community detention and 6 mo's supervision as late as '24 for possession of illegal guns and ammo, but Lab/Greens are "shocking".

#NZpol So they can either keep saying "open to talking to all parties" and keep pretending that ACT is a "good faith" actor OR admit ACT will absolutely use them *and then reject EVERY SINGLE BOTTOM LINE THAT COUNTS*. PSA: He just wants TOP to force through ACT's own Enabling Act-style policies.

IS THAT TRUE?

Or is it something Simeon Brown said

I mean... yeah. At this stage though, you'd have to say it's a choice. Just look at Erika Kirk or Katie Miller... even if it's absolutely transactional in nature, to advance profile or whatever, still a choice to be hooked up as it were to what he represents, far more permanently than anyone else.

No, I was in the middle of writing something and reviewed that after-panel stuff too. Reckoned he lost the election at the point he couldn't get a grip on the inflation rate and the APPALLING LACK wage rises. Got called out in real time. Torn up by both Coughlan and HDPA afterwards.

#NZpol Unfortunately outlets everywhere both feed and feed off the usual trifecta of election seasons: scary economic shit, scary shit about the poors who might collapse society if they get the idea they can *participate* in society (*shocking* stuff eh 🙄), and... the classic law and order frights.

Anyhoo, Seymour no doubt made the most of his positive write-up, so maybe results on the Compass are screwed a bit from an influx of "Our Dave is THE BESTEST THING EVER EVER EVER!" from ACT voters. Literally just a game to some journos out there. And yeah, many here ARE f'n psychopath racists.

It's the same kind of BS, but at least the jerk wasn't in a Party that had been running the govt, or trying to be in the next one too. And I put "senior" in quotes as clearly, some managers are great, and actually earn that title, others are ladder climbers getting jobs they simply shouldn't have.

Alan (not ekshully a B'Stard) @alans-world.bsky.social · 14/10/2026
#NZpol TBH literally like a systems & process audit I did once. On a problem issue, some staff claimed this, others claimed that, so I call in a "senior" Manager: "You appear to raise an issue that doesn't exist." "It's in the doc." "This one?" "Yes." "No it isn't." "I think It is." "WHERE?" "Uh"

At 22:50 said that while she didn't think Winston should be Foreign Minister — for obvious reasons — but *could* still work with NZF in coalition. (Obvs talking "potentially", but it's out there). The emphasis is on keeping on trying to negotiate with Parties like that, despite what they've done.
020
Alan (not ekshully a B'Stard) @alans-world.bsky.social · 14/10/2026
There's a bit where she goes at the Greens over fishing and not working with National on this, when it was pretty clear to anyone that National, especially in this iteration of the Party, and along with NZF in particular backing them up, would obviously never negotiate that in good faith.

#NZpol Shot through with problems... An illegal Board, excessive payments to 3rd Parties, oh and as for the "education"? "...integration between different subjects was loose and inconsistent, and classes relied heavily on independent student research with limited evidence of explicit teaching."
Article Excerpt from RNZ covering a Charter School

"A document outlining the case for a commissioner at SAMS said the school was at risk due to factors including low cash, arrears to the ministry for payroll, and serious procurement weaknesses.

It said the school's board was illegal, the school should not have been paying $50,000 a year for the right to use a particular approach to teaching, and a forensic accounting investigation might be required.

A separate document about MSWA said the school had built up a $183,000 debt to the ministry because it was repeatedly bouncing its payroll - meaning it did not have enough money to cover board-funded staff and the ministry was covering the gap.

The document said the school had "sustained financial, governance, attendance and curriculum delivery challenges".

It said the school's board did not understand its governance responsibilities and appeared unwilling and incapable of making the changes that were needed."

Excerpt from Stuff article "Government tells nursing schools to stop training so many nurses"

Excerpt reads:

"In a letter to nursing schools last week, the Tertiary Education Commission instructed them to revert nursing student numbers back to 2025 levels for the 2027 year. That would mean fewer people would be training to be nurses, according to academics Stuff spoke to"

#NZpol The current PM's general attitude to Covid has always been shit. Eg. this, back in 2023. I said at *that* time it was a character test for the Nation. Well, we fucked that up, and look what happened. *An absolutely predictable gutting of the Nation* Don't fuck it up again Aotearoa, FGS!
