Different Alan Scott than the Green Lantern one, but we are both gay. Were I ever actually to get off my but and post stuff, I'd be posting about Tabletop, Comics, Mixology, Current Events, and Retail Management. Sacramento, California, USA.

well the Tyrannosaurus first decides it's a good day for stomping, then has conversations in turn with Dromiceiomimus and Utahraptor

Pretty bold statement about someone who changed his body to defy the very laws of physics, coming from someone whose monstrous transformation is: grew more hair.

Pretty sure that was common law. I think the theory was that if the rope broke in a hanging or whatever, that was divine intervention and oughtn't be gainsayed by mortal judges.

Why on earth should the assumption be that I was somehow grooming a teenager that I met maybe one a year and barely knew, vs that we live in communities of humans and we will naturally sometimes interact with each other at different stages of our lives?

Alan Scott @alanrileyscott.bsky.social · 06/10/2026
Again, unless there is actual grooming behavior, that is bullshit. When I was 29, I started dating a guy who was 22. But since he was the younger brother of a friend, I had met him for the first time years before, when I was 21 and he was 14...

Alan Scott @alanrileyscott.bsky.social · 06/10/2026
Is "met" meant to indicate "started dating" here? Because otherwise, even that is BS.

Or the impeachment vote succeeds and enough GOP senators are willing after the fact to go on record supporting impeachment that narratives about a stolen vote don't have legs.
010
Alan Scott @alanrileyscott.bsky.social · 06/10/2026
I think that's a pretty unlikely outcome. I think you either get something like 10 GOP senators privately voting to impeach and all swearing they weren't the defectors after the vote fails,...

Alan Scott @alanrileyscott.bsky.social · 05/10/2026
At the point Trump loses an impeachment, even by secret ballot, he's already lost enough of the GOP that it doesn't matter. Nobody is doing a coup on behalf of someone that's fallen that far out of power.

Probably nobody. I'm guessing they're just algorithmically boosted because video advertisements are more lucrative.

I have been saying this for years. "Drinking the Kool-Aid" sounds a lot less funny/pithy when you realize over 300 people who died there were under eighteen and 150 of them were ten years old and younger.

True not just in publishing/writing. Look at how this new Meta Muse basically jumps into the user's shit, mixes it around, gets it everywhere. Shares their address. Lies to their contacts. Sells their stuff at a low price. Do not let the vampire in. Hang garlic. Sharpen stakes.

This is good thread on pbta moves, and there are also a lot of good insights in the reply chain for the thread that this one is quoting.

Can I just say--the bit in that first piece of concept art where the goop is stuck to the invisible shield bubble and not the Cerritos herself is great.

When I was young, and my mom was a stay-at-home parent with three kids, she helped pay our family's bills by providing in-home daycare, in part, this was due to programs like these.

Additionally, the CoC RPG itself is responsible for a huge amount of mythos material. IIRC, Arkham Horror, Trail of Cthulhu, and Delta Green are all published under license from Chaosium.

And yeah, I get that comparing Dolly to a contemporary country song is Jolene-stealing-your-man levels of unfair but. C'mon. I've listened to the song. Not exactly a bubble-piercer, as it were.

I guess my reaction to this attempt to shame folks for not listening to country is this: Last month my social media was wall-to-wall Dolly Parton memorials. So some country gets into the bubble, at least.

Webtoons is a brand name. People have been calling the medium "webcomics" for about thirty or so years now. I think this distinction is important.

No, you just want to *run* the purity testing committee despite not being a Democrat. Sorry but you don't get to use the Democratic Party--which while imperfect is an actual force for good in this country--to settle your intrafactional conflict with your fellow right-wingers.

do not vote for transphobic dems. if you want a dem party to continue to exist and become a force for good you have to have a spine.

Stevie Hunter and Peter Parker both have actual qualifications and have taught at The x academy, but they aren't X-Men.

Being a university lecturer is exactly like being an X-Man as far as that goes. You don't need any actual training or certification in teaching.

I'm pretty sure she is also the only X-Man with an actual teaching certification.

IDK, I feel that it's probably good for the soul of Catholicism that the Pope is occasionally faced with mundane worldly tasks.

Incumbency is important. If a transphobic Democrat loses their race, we can try again next election with a better candidate. If a transphobic Democrat wins, their ass is semi-permanently glued to that seat, which fundamentally damages the party and therefore the nation.

Nope! Democrats are going to sweep either way, and running up the margins is for sports-betting chumps. It's clearly better to have 220 good Democrats in the house than 300 bad ones. It's better to have 52 good Senators than 55 bad ones.

This has two major corollaries: 1) If you care about trans rights, you should vote blue 2)Scorched earth policy on anyone trying to make the Democratic Party less good on trans issues.

There's a reason they poached the score for TNG. As for the scene itself, I have a hard time imagining how it would come across in theatres, when it was a large projection of a cutting-edge visual effect, revealing a version of the ship nobody had seen before.

the structure of the coalition contains, basically, 4 groups, of which two are “insane wrecker centrists” and “insane wrecker leftists”, and the other two are “sincere, principled liberals” and “sincere, principled socialists”, and the only way to victory is to fight both that left and right fringe

Fuchsia is a particularly poor choice for a test like this, since the actual correct pronunciation is Fucks-ia, after botanist Leonart Fuchs.

So many of the supposed divides in the Democratic caucus simply boil down to "this one will fight for all of us, this one will not" and for the past two years Team Fight is sweeping the board.

You get that sometimes, but I think the best marvel comics just lean in to the idea that there's super tech everywhere, and it's normal. @gwillow.me 's Ms. Marvel run did a great job of this, especially in the science fair arc.
