Social media has turned dog-piling into some sort of strange community building ritual that has people revealing the ugliest parts of themselves.

Having a brain fog moment. In what country was it reported (this past year or last year) that elected officials climbed a building in order to cast their vote??? I attempted an internet search and of course the only thing that conveniently popped up were the assholes from 2021.

A reminder this back-to-school season: Each year, instead of returning to classrooms, thousands of children are confined in facilities far away from home. For many, it’s a bad omen for a wave of adult criminalization in the not-so-distant future. Kids need care, not cages.

Wow! After we put out our call last week, we got donations from you! We paid 20 bonds in total last week, and 11 of those were $7,500 bonds set by ICE officers. BUT, 21 more PEOPLE are still waiting in detention right now because they can't pay these bonds.

In June I spoke on a panel alongside Jumaane Williams and others. Williams shared that "we have to content with the sad reality that the Black community is more conservative than we'd like to think". In my organizing experience, he aint wrong. Blk/Brwn liberals were my biggest opps around Defund.

What will always tickle me is knowing that there's an upcoming generation of youth who will become adults and will have known and been taught to NEVER once question Celine Dion's Jamaican ancestry. That is hilariously wholesome to me.

Imagine considering yourself civically engaged & aware but NOT monitoring the bill intros, sponsorships, sign-ons, & voting history of any of your elected reps. Like, no accountability, no expectations— just identity (maybe) and mad vibes. But you trust them with your tax dollars and representation.
