An infographic in orange and blue. Full text is over 1,000 characters, but the headlines are:
The UK today - for 16- and 17-year-olds who are over the age of consent, laws around image-sharing are confusing and criminalise all image-taking and -sharing activities.
Research reveals that there is a regulatory disconnect between the age of consent and the regulations around indecent images of children, which can lead to difficulty accessing support.
We recommend legal exceptions for images of the self and better support for victims of image-sharing.
We seek views and contributions on your experiences around teen sexting, via email to imagelawresearch@gmail.com

I believe this means the sun will set over the entirety of the British Empire tonight for the first time in several hundred years. Chagos is the dot below India on this map. Sunset in the Pitcairns (dot in the Pacific) will happen ~40 minutes before sunrise in Akrotiri and Dhekelia (dot on Cyprus).

Israel has dropped more bombs in Gaza than fell on London, Dresden & Hamburg combined during WWII [𝘍𝘰𝘳𝘦𝘪𝘨𝘯 𝘈𝘧𝘧𝘢𝘪𝘳𝘴]. Read that & consider that Gaza is, on average, only 5 miles wide & 25 miles in length. Life expectancy has dropped from 75.5 years in 2023 to 40.6 years now [𝘓𝘢𝘯𝘤𝘦𝘵]. Genocide.

There has been a sharp rise in censorship of pro-Palestinian voices on Meta platforms. 7amleh is collecting evidence from European users about content takedowns, shadow banning, and account suspensions on Instagram or Facebook. Click here if you've experienced this form.jotform.com/250692597434...

To return to my thread, now that I’m full of food. What does this mean in practice for the trans and trans ally community? While it is possible to exclude trans people from single sex spaces, this should only be done when it is reasonable and proportionate.

Back at work today, and full of thoughts about the Supreme Court judgment last week. It’s much more nuanced than it might seem at first glance, and it’s hard to cut through the vitriol around it. That’s understandable - it’s obviously very emotive. I’m going to try break down the legal principles.

Meta will burn down everything in search of growth. They have been doing so in broad daylight for years. They will make people angry and sad and hateful (and have done so before) in search of growth in their dying platform. They will make everything worse to create growth. It's a death cult

The UKIPO is consulting on their approach to TDM for GenAI - www.gov.uk/government/c.... The consultation is open until 25th Feb, and has many qs - primarily, though, they're asking if it's alright to have an opt-out exception for TDM for commercial purposes, as this is their preferred approach.

About to record a call. Very important. Turn all devices to do not disturb and silent. Make sure headphones are fully charged. Move from squeaky chair to non-squeaky chair. Ready! Forgot to close the door. Cat ran in and jumped on my lap while shouting enthusiastically. Where's her mute button?
