brb, making my reverb generator more woke So I've been running a genetic algorithm reverb constants generator for reverb matrices. It generates possible reverbs through randomness but also crossover from a bank of previous great reverbs and finds the best one, such as kRockstar2 (coming soon!)

The other day, a little grey kitty came up to me as I checked mail on my porch, so I sat and went 'hello there!'. And the next few minutes were a total purr orgy of adorableness. Looked just like the last kitty I ever owned, years ago. Then wandered off. Guess that'll hold me for a few more years.

digging into the airwindows windotuning I came up with… not quite autotune and brain-meltingly annoying to do the process, but it seems to work quite well and is as fast as your willingness to drive yourself insane with the process :)

Having posted my plugin and the patron video I'm capturing a new batch of records, including a Wheels Of Fire that isn't as early as the pressing I've owned forever, but is WAY cleaner and circa 70s. Turns out it's a very good picture of that record's sound, being sort of mid 70s and having bass.

Ripping Springsteen's 'The River' from vinyl and enjoying it. This was a Power Station record, like the Chic records and Scary Monsters. I like that I can absolutely hear that in it. I will need to work out what's going on there. Part of it will be the recording space, which they're fully using.

github.com/airwindows/M... is today's release of Meter. It's doing the same stuff, but I've got it tacking a 'top 100' type score onto the ones it really really likes, and I think it works in a kind of gamified sense: you can contrive to get the score number ticking up as you watch :)

Up early workin' on Meter. I think I can resolve the twitchiness its letter-grades show, by only ever incrementing them rather than jumping them to the result of a calculation, which seems to sometimes flip out and give an unreasonably high score. Now that I'm tracking balance among those scores…

Got update on Meter to give 'rough percentage of time song is in Plus Zone (sections balanced)' and doing over the measurements on hundreds and hundreds of songs because I gotta know what the new metric is doing. If only it wasn't so damn twitchy. That said what I'm attempting is pretty unreasonable

Special record getting day. A off-price copy of Kind Of Blue because it had 'major problems playing cleanly' (just one huge pop! didn't even skip!) and James Brown, It's A Mother. Arguably the best JB record. Off-center hole, fixable. Can't wait to throw these at Meter and see what happens :D

Rest day is going well. It usually translates to 'tinker with studio stuff not deemed important'. I replaced the lav mic in a corner aimed at my 'chamber hallway area' with a much lower noise mic built into the handrail of the stairs! Without carpentry :) There are several things that'll work with.

Update to Meter, 0.4.3. The only purpose is to immediately give people using the standalone version one that works :) The only change is that the thing always runs and doesn't try to stop when the playhead in the DAW stops. 0.4.2 still works and follows the playhead. github.com/airwindows/M...

Putting some more work in on Meter. Turns out there's a path to renaming all my existing measured files by hand: for instance if it says Abcd I can very easily make that Adbcd and update Meter to say Adbc and then go back later and trim the extra 'authority' letter and so I have 1.4.2 mostly ready.

Lark's Tongues now, but I have to shift to regular work mode at some point, can't do all the records today. Repeatedly now I've captured records where, even at low no-clip volume, the artistry meant I HAD to listen to the music, not do something else. And often gave me ideas for my own sounds.
