Some #AirportArchitecture action this morning in Halifax. I'm here to take advantage of one of my favorite travel options: a daytime flight to Europe. This one is a bit wonky, the WestJet service from Halifax to Lisbon. #avgeek #paxex

I’m at Munich Airport for the next week with the CU Denver EMBA Aviation program. Re-upping my piece on T2, the center of Lufthansa’s MUC hub that includes one of my favorite airport spaces: the Helmut Jahn designed Munich Airport Center plaza. byerussell.substack.com/p/flughafen-...

I, too, have wondered where all the color went in architecture. It's a relief to have buildings like the Terminal E at Logan or the new terminal at Pittsburgh that don't mind a little color but they are the exceptions rather than the rule. via @edwinheathcote.bsky.social www.ft.com/content/90e1...

Why is architecture so afraid of colour?
For centuries, western architecture has associated monochrome with purity, seriousness and good taste — but the rebels never went away

When Ft. Worth had its own airport. . 1953 Amon Carter Field, Fort Worth, Texas, Airport Postcard . #Airports #AirportArchitecture #FortWorth #texas #Travel #Aviation #Avgeek @airportarchitecture.byerussell.com
Color postcard photograph of the terminal building at Amon Carter Field in Fort Worth, Texas. The large brick-and-glass terminal has a distinctive central air traffic control tower with a dark, windowed observation room and a red roof. The building features broad horizontal rows of windows, projecting passenger areas, and covered sections along the apron. The words “The Greater Fort Worth International Airport” and “Amon Carter Field” are visible on the upper façade. Several automobiles are parked near the terminal, while the broad concrete aircraft apron fills the foreground beneath a partly cloudy blue sky.
