A younger Heracles ^_^ with one of his labors/affairs #greekmythology #art (context in thread)

Heracles pondering how he can handle 50 beautiful women at once

Heracles: Wait a moment... how many daughters did you say you had again?

Thespius: 50 :)

Heracles: ...huh... (FUUUUCK, I only had sex with my best bros... I don't know if I can last that long with that many women... maybe if I simply lay there...?)

Maybe @anew.social can address this issue? It would suck to have everyone using the bridge accounts on the Jesse Singal block list, especially since most people bridging from the Fediverse would very likely block him too.

I still haven't decided whether to leave or not. If it were just D2D, I'd be already gone. My books don't qualify for many of their retailers anyway because they don't accept erotica. But losing Smashwords would be, as you said, devastating. I wish we could collectively buy it from D2D haha

Erotic Mythology @aimeemaroux.bsky.social · 04/05/2026

Smashwords is the last online store that allows so-called "taboo" erotica, so for us erotica writers, it's a very hard decision whether or not to stay. 😔

There's www.pastely.eu, quite similar to Linktree, so it doesn't have the convenient feature of adding book links automatically, but if you don't mind adding the link yourself, it works. You can also keep using books2read without a Draft2Digital seller account IIRC.

Indie authors: list your book on thebooklist.co for free. No signup. No platform fees. No commissions. Add your title, description, cover, and purchase link in about a minute. Readers discover your book, you keep 100% of every sale. That's it. That's the whole thing #BookSky #IndieAuthor #IndieBooks

The Book List is a community-built platform where independent authors can share their books with readers around the world. No fees, no commissions, no gatekeepers. Just books and the people who love them.

What We Stand For

What we believe

Books should be discoverable. Every book deserves a chance to find its readers, not just the ones with the biggest marketing budget.

Authors should keep what they earn. When a reader buys your book, that money belongs to you. We never take a cut, never charge a listing fee, and never insert ourselves between you and your sale.

Recommendations should be honest. The books trending on The Book List are trending because real readers are clicking, sharing, and coming back to them. Not because someone paid for placement.

The community should own the platform. The Book List is built for authors and readers, not advertisers. Every decision we make is guided by what's best for the people who actually use the site.

What Makes Us Different

What sets us apart

Free forever. No listing fees, no premium tiers, no upsells. The Book List has been free since day one and will stay that way.

No commissions. When a reader buys your book through your purchase link, you keep 100 percent of the sale. We never touch the money.

No paid placements. Every book on the trending lists earned its spot through genuine reader interest. You can't pay your way to the top.

Built for readers and authors equally. We care just as much about helping readers find great books as we do about helping authors get discovered. Both sides win when the platform stays honest.

No account required to browse. Readers can explore the entire platform without signing up.

A very cool offline method of period tracking! Really beautiful! There are also apps that don't store data in any server cloud, one of which, @eukiapp.bsky.social will show fake data if you enter a specific code. I quickly review them here for anyone interested: eroticmythology.com/menstrual-cy...

If you're afraid of the surveillance aspect of most period apps, you might want to try to create/buy a Period Tracker Bracelet. It's a color-coded bracelet with a bead for each day of your cycle and a moveable charm. Move the charm forward once per day to keep track of where you are in your cycle!

You've probably been wondering: "How many eels is a cottage worth in 14th C. England?" This is a reasonable question. I get it. And happily, I'm here to help! I included a chart showing this kind of equivalence in an article I wrote for HistoryExtra , but here's an excerpt! 🗃️🧪

Table showing cost of items in the 14th C., and the equivalent value in eels. The table has 3 columns: "You want to buy", "It Costs", and "But in eels?" The table shows you that:

2 doz. eggs costs 1d, or 6 eels
A gallon of the best ale costs 1.25d or 8 eels
1 sheep costs 1s 5d, or 106 eels
1 cow costs 9s 5d, or 706 eels
A 2-story cottage costs £2, or 3,000 eels

The d. here means penny, from the latin "denarius." There were 12 d. to a shilling (s), and 20 shillings to a pound (£).

As far as I know, no one was buying cottages with eels. This is more to give you a sense of relative costs. But wouldn't it be interesting if you could buy a house with eels?

This chart leaves unanswered the question: "What about the next-best ale?" and suggests and entire spectrum of ale gradations. Which makes good sense, of course. But also, you certainly wouldn't want to spend your eels on inferior ale!

Now that #Draft2Digital has added an "Account Closure Request" option to their dropdown, I sent another request. I think I made my feelings clear, what do you think?

a screenshot of the contact form on the Draft2Digital website containing my message to them:
Delete my account.

Also, grow some balls. It's obvious the real reason for your "maintenance fee" is that you don't feel the money you make from lower-selling authors is enough to maintain our accounts in terms of server space etc. But instead of being honest about the expense of maintaning such accounts, you fed us a line about the expense of policing for AI slop. If that was really your reason, you'd charge everyong the fee. You're targeting the lowest-earning authors because you want us off your platform, plain and simple. So fine. Bye.

A painting of Lucifer tempting Jesus in the desert. Lucifer is INCREDIBLY naked, dirty, and lurid, rubbing up ons Jesus' robes from behind; his hand is open in offering and is placed in front of Jesus' crotch
