Ours doesn’t have a back up battery. But you can check out induction hot plates at the library & they’re pretty cheap to buy. Our house electricity is one the battery in the garage. The larger range is not.

Found the email I sent when I got accidentally added to the faculty listserv of an orthopedic surgery clinic and nobody would remove me so I sent this email to all faculty/staff/med students and they removed me almost immediately
Hello Bone Colleagues, 
I have invented a new type of ankle and I'm very excited to show it to you. Early raccoon trials suggest a 60% increase in scurrying speed and dramatic increases in fine motor banditry. I know we are not supposed to create super raccoons, but I think you'll change your mind and professional ethics when you see how cute they are. I believe we are on the cusp of a new era in advanced human scurrying because if medical science has taught me anything, it's that improvements in raccoons correspond 1:1 to improvements in humans.

I love this, BUT know that wind will defeat you every time (some cities are windy). I also find having a wet rain coat is easier than a wet umbrella.

I feel as tho most campus conflicts between wheeled micro-devices & pets is because campuses generally stink at regulating or planning for routes. They shouldn’t be sharing pathways.

I am unionized and wow is it powerful. Mind, it’s the largest university system in the US (CSU), meaning there a long and large tradition of shared action (admittedly many faculty are are frustrated and angry).

FYI - If you ever feel compelled to remove an agave after its doom bloom, it's a mess & the juice stings. We did it, but I now feel like I have fire ants swarming my hands and arms. Evidently, this lovely feeling should last a few days.

WHEREAS, salmon have long held a special place in the heart of our community; and
WHEREAS, salmon are such a part of our heritage that they adorn the logo of our city; and
WHEREAS, each fall the salmon return to our creeks and lakes; the first salmon have arrived

WHEREAS, their lure has driven schools of visitors to our town to learn more about our

The Seattle Miracle: 1️⃣ Seattle’s tree canopy cover grew 50% (10pp) since 2007. 🌲 2️⃣ Seattle’s population has grown by about 25% (150k people) over the same timeframe. 🌆 This is an incredible civic achievement. Politicians should be shouting this from the rooftops.

Yes! It seems to be part of the ‘caring for aging parents’ journey. I, and so many friends & colleagues, face this. It’s SO predatory and potentially dangerous. It also takes so much time to handle as there is no quick fix.

I had a guest speaker yesterday in my studio (a 5 hour class from 1 to 6). He came for 90 min. I stayed to 4… it was over 100 outside with no AC & a wall of single-paned windows. The classroom was a sauna. I have cooling at home & it still took all evening to not feel tanked. It was awful.
