Ironically he wasn’t even “the right sort of chap”, he just pretended to be. He was a fantasist who lied about what his father did (conman & bigamist), his school & university, he was accused of financial impropriety through his career…he wasn’t a toff, he wasn’t self-made; he was self-invented.

It tastes worse if some of the tasty bits fall out because of a lacking layer of bonding agent (butter)…I’m pretty sure my sandwiches could take several Gs inverted and still maintain integrity because of the butter holding them together. Now who sounds crazy, eh?

There’s a lot of rebellion against “them”, as well as latent conspiracy stuff that fits neatly with antivax/reform/maga “do your own research” stuff. If you’ve convinced yourself your outside society, the it’s not hard to convince you you’re a Freeman of the Land.

I ordered fry up, girlfriend ordered scrambled eggs. Waitress came back to tell us “we’ve run out of scrambled egg”. I said I might change my order if they were out of eggs, but the waitress said they had plenty of eggs, just no scrambled. This was before Heston Blumenthal got involved.
