Fair answer — and I'm not here to claim those studies are bad. I think they're the right kind of evidence. My axis was always access, not methodology: the public can re-run VAERS, but not the analyses built on VSD. That's a transparency point, not a complaint about the science. Appreciate it.

3/ We'd apply the same to VSD: strip identifiers, keep the structured signal, attest each record, publish the recipe. So the honest question — would a de-identified, reproducible VSD extract meet your bar? Or is credentialed-only access the requirement itself, separate from privacy?

2/ But "about 1 per million" is an average. The active surveillance you're citing put myocarditis at ~40–63 per million second doses in young males (CDC MMWR / ACIP, 2021). Same gold standard. Which outcomes is the 1-per-million averaging over?

2/ But notice the asymmetry: VAERS is fully public — you can re-run every script. VSD isn't. Application, signed data-use agreement, two public-use datasets only. So the question stands: should the public have the same reproducible access to VSD that they already have to VAERS?

1/ Right standard — that's the bar for causation, and we agree completely. Which is exactly the point: our corpus makes no causal claim. There's nothing for us to demonstrate. The caveat you want is the caveat we carry on every output.

Agreed — VAERS can't answer that alone. No denominator, no controls; coincidence fills it regardless of safety. So what would you accept as an answer: VSD? Observed-vs-expected? Name the standard.
