Most of the ham radio people are over on Mastodon nowadays, lol.

Angle looks like it's from somewhere around 41.738900, 9.163836 on a long lens on what is marked as the D268... but unclear to me exactly where.

Oooh, they were turning on evacuations left and right yesterday, wonder if they were having a problem figuring that out.

That bot monitors wildfire evacs (and other evacs) in California. Automated...I think someone in Sonoma County was toggling some computer stuff and didn't realize they were turning evacs on/off.

AI6YR Ben @ai6yr.bsky.social · 13/02/2026

Ah, more corrosion in there than I would have expected. I'm sure you'll get it moving in no time though.

This (somewhat suspicious) recall was for some reason targeted at Halal/muslim food distributors in Minneapolis only. I have great suspicions of why this exists.

This evening, President Trump put out a statement on social media saying he will decertify “all aircraft made in Canada.” This statement could have wide reaching consequences for the wildfire aviation world. open.substack.com/pub/thehotsh...

President Trump Orders Decertification Of All Canadian Made Aircraft, Likely Affecting Numerous Wildfire Platforms.

Scoopers, Twin Otters, Beavers, Q400s could all be affected.

AI6YR Ben @ai6yr.bsky.social · 20/01/2026

Yes, that was it... prefer platforms where those kinds of folks aren't allowed. I'm lurking here, but I am not bridging from Mastodon, especially since I am posting heavily on what's going on in Minnesota, etc.

AI6YR Ben @ai6yr.bsky.social · 20/01/2026

I was playing with Meshtastic and just switched to Meshcore, meshcore has far better success at me reaching and communicating with people...

AI6YR Ben @ai6yr.bsky.social · 20/01/2026

Having great success with Meshcore, as of yesterday, looks like that is the technology to pursue for mesh communications. (Meshtastic, not so good).

No, just lurking again. Not bridging my Mastodon posts.

AI6YR Ben @ai6yr.bsky.social · 17/01/2026

Hi all, I have cut the Bluesky bridge on my Mastodon instance. If anyone wants my posts, you can create a Mastodon account elsewhere (mastodon.social is the biggest instance).

We've been jammed in "Santa Ana wind" mode for a week, which luckily is not a fire danger, but it's freakish as well. Usually it's at most a day or two... a week is unheard of. Heatwave too.

Wow! Nope. Hadn't heard that one!

Woohoo! Anyway, glad you are a real person, the last two dozen have been AI bots, LOL.

This is enough, will approve.

There's a feed on Mastodon at @GiftArticles@tomkahe.com which posts all the gift articles posted on BlueSky (and Mastodon too I believe, not sure) so people can latch onto them and see what people are reading, too.

That was considerably before such a thing as "drone pilot school". Probably just as drones were getting off the ground... I think it was a $10K drone even.

Just me griping. A certain wildfire app is partnering with Ring. Not my concern anymore anyway. 🙄

LOL "as long as he doesn't have to go outside"

020

Ha! I forgot the bridge doesn't do edits, it's a base64 message as I was looking to see if it would surface any LLM's (which decode those kinds of things). I'll go delete that now...

Yeah. There was a guy here locally who used to take a nap on his front porch, triggered so many calls you'd hear the units say "that's mr. so-and-so's house, he likes taking naps on his front porch. We'll check anyway but he's probably sleeping"

That's so strange. The "Hindustan Times" is a scraper site, lol.
