In between raging against the machine, don't forget to be kind. To yourself, to your loved ones, and to people who are trying their best to do good and only getting so far.

To note: the cat was not recently discovered. It existed long before white world knew its name.

The working-class gaps in T.S. Eliot's collection of cat poems sure does reflect his city upbringing. This darling feline has thoroughly inspected everything that moves (and some of the things that don't) in this barn to ensure nothing (nothing!) is a up to no good.

Kids need/deserve traumatic films. Films that show death or lasting consequences that aren't resolved almost instantly. Fear, anger, grief and frustration should be part of kids movies. Kids arent stupid, they feel big emotions just like adults, they deserve to see those experiences reflected back.

My cat is convinced if she sits quietly and patiently on my bed, I will eventually give her treats. It's a wonderful trait. She is not aware, however, that because she becomes a chaos monster after said treats, I delay giving her said treats, sometimes for hours. I like instilling quiet optimism.

Something I never knew: In 1981, Kaposi's Sarcoma, the cancer that led to the discovery of HIV, accounted for "up to 9 percent of all cancers in a belt across equatorial Africa, where it commonly affects children and young adults." In the US, prior to 1981, it affected ~2 out of 3,000,000 people.

I dislike mistakes. They make me itch. I especially hate typos in an email where I've worked so hard to curate something good and accessible and yet a typo slips in and suddenly I feel like a half-assed fool 🫠

Cricket says I must be one dense potato, but surely not this dense. Because she is being PATENTLY clear about what she wants and what she wants is on my plate right now and my plate right now is in my hands and my hands are not lowering my plate so that she may take what she wants right now.

There's no earthly way of knowing Which direction we are going There's no knowing where we're rowing Or which way the river's flowing --Willy Wonka, 1971 Yet the terror keeps on growing For the shadows sweep foreboding Through the streets, their badges showing There's no justice where we're going

Reminder that Klingons say TRANS RIGHTS BRING HONOR TO YOUR HOUSE
DS9 scene: Kor, a Klingon, greets Dax as Curzon. Dax corrects him as the host is now in Jadzia, a Trill female. Cor immediately responds, "Jadzia, my beloved old friend" without missing a beat.

Right: Two tweets from 2019: "This Pride Month, never forget that Klingons had trans rights"; "No hostility, no confusion, no clumsy excuse-filled justification, just a quick self-correction and the exact same amount of love and respect before and after. Cis allies: Be like Kor."

Ru says there is precisely one and only one open window in this entire apartment worth gazing out of. Cricket is clearly hogging it, and I am doing nothing to rectify the matter. My suggestion that he go check out a different open window is falling on unimpressed ears.

Me, 10 years ago: What if you could program a computer to think and act like you? Have you say every word in the dictionary in ten different ways, read thousands of sentences, answer thousands of questions, until the computer could approximate you. Would that be comfort for those you leave behind?
