It's certainly not civilised - in fact, it's barbaric - but public execution was a feature of most Christian nations for most of the Christian era.

So the story of the night is that Andrew Feinstein voters of 2024 switched to the Greens and everyone else pretty much stayed as they were. You'd have to call that an encouraging result for any governing party and a dispiriting one for any main opposition party.
