Armed traitors in fatigues and federal kidnappers now patrol Ward 8, which used to be a place I could escape this fucking occupation. Ward 8 doesn’t need more slave patrols, especially ones who will never ever be held accountable because SCOTUS has virtually immunized them from suit. #GTFO #FreeDC

It can still disable you. Forever. People had a hard time when restaurants closed for a few weeks. It was seemingly the worst thing that had ever happened to them. Imagine being so sick that you have to stay home for five years. And you're still sick, and there's no treatment, there's no cure. 😷

Honestly, ask tough guy Markwayne Mullin what would he do if two men in street clothes ran up on his car with guns drawn & his child was with him? Seriously. WTF!?!

like to extend some logic around here, he's not stopping them from protesting but 1. you still really don't want the military this close to free speech activity as law enforcement; 2. if he was going to stop them, this is also how that would start

Before the occupation started in August 2025, I used to go for daily walks around my neighborhood. It was one of my favorite parts of my days. Since Aug. ‘25, I barely leave the house & have changed my routes to try to avoid the armed soldiers, but it’s next to impossible to avoid them. #FreeDC

I don't want to dunk-quote on this person, but actually, this is a perfect illustration of the problem. we can't become accustomed to or expect or concede constant monitoring from armed troops as we go about our business. it should always make us recoil. there's danger in it becoming unremarkable.
screenshot of a post that reads "Not to be all "you're getting sold" National Guard troops spend all day standing in out of the way corners of DC. Not great that they're standing in front of a ballot drop box, but c'mon, people, use some common sense. They're not stopping anyone from dropping something off." it is a quote-post of a post from the DC Council that says "this is clearly not acceptable" and features a photo of national guard members standing around a ballot box in Foggy Bottom

It’s also easier to see things as not being possibly intimidating when you’re not the kind of person who would really ever be targeted by such an effort —or by anything else the soldiers do for that matter

i think this gets at the crux of it. It doesn't matter if they are actively preventing people from dropping ballots off, or if they're there by accident, or what--their presence could still be viewed as intimidating, and the solution is for them not to be *anywhere*

If you need to renew your US Passport & are eligible for online renewal, my very recent experience is that it’s faster than even expedited processing. Applied on a Tuesday, new passport was delivered the following Monday. Trump-free design. Get yours before the Nazi design tolls out in 2028.

I suspect it has a lot to do with increased policing under this occupation & mopeds requiring license, insurance, registration & eBikes not. Gives delivery people fewer hooks for police to catch them in this fucking dragnet

As though they’re not patrolling with HSI/FBI/DEA goons, providing a protective perimeter for police & immigration kidnappings, harassing & detaining Black men & teens, policing protests & having people arrested for First Amendment activities. They are part of the rotten system, not apart from it.

DC in nothing like Twin Cities. the fact that the most visible part of this occupation is armed soldiers in fatigues that some people only see in/near Metro stations (while they patrol my residential neighborhood) gives my neighbors an excuse to say “at least they’re not ICE” 🙄

What has been the most infuriating to me in DC is how my neighbors normalize this occupation, thank the soldiers for they’re service, ignore them, think “they’re not doing anything” 🙄 or “they don’t want to be here” 🙄 while NG sign 3- to 6-month contracts to stalk Black people bc it’s easy 💵

I raised this issue because it seems likely that a lot of DC voters want both Oye and Elissa, but most will rank Oye first because he’s the Dem nominee, so their support of Elissa will never be seen. We need a good group of folks to rank Elissa first so she has enough votes to be in the top two.

#2. NG are not “police officers” #3. The gov’t seeking a restraining order against the student “harassing“ or “stalking” the armed soldiers who are patrolling our entire city would be a 1A violation & totally unworkable. It’s purpose is to chill 1A activity. Any judge should reject such a request

Way to start the week by posting about the “fear” of “some locals” that the Trump regime is going to continue to do exactly whatever it fucking wants with zero accountability, especially from so-called “journalists.” You’re quickly going for Washington Examiner status.

One of the biggest signs here is just how quickly ostensible opponents of Trump’s domestic occupations by the National Guard reached for “send them to Anacostia/Shreveport/St. Louis/Memphis etc” as the rhetorical response and the relative silence about them since they have.
