The drawings are beautiful, and the story focuses on the family of the Ploudalmézeau's mayor at the time. Together with mayors and inhabitants of the region, he thought against the company. The story is quite intimate, we can feel how moved the people are by this disaster.

Finally read this graphic novel "Bleu Pétrole" by Morizur and Montgermon. It tells the story of the sinking of the the oil tanker Amoco Cadiz in Britannian waters, which resulted in one of the biggest oil spill ever.

It was very interesting for me, to collect data on museums and extractivist practices, but even more for my education as a local. I grew up in Lyon, 35 minutes drive from St Étienne, but there we learn everything about the silk industry and not about coal. Felt like I needed more regional history

Slag heaps create a particular landscape around the city, the coal industry has been very important to the region. It opened in the mid-19th century when the railways were connected to the city. The mine stopped in 1973 and transformed in a museum 20 years later

Visit to the Puits Couriots, one of the former mining industrial site of St Étienne (South East of France, near Lyon).It is now a mining museum, where most of the visit consists in going in the 7 meters depth visitor mine, constructed only for visitors.We also walk through the old industry buildings

Au Nigeria, ses pratiques révèlent les tactiques de domination et de « contre-insurrection d’entreprise » décrites par Grégoire Chamayou dans La société ingouvernable.


Présente au Nigeria depuis 1962, Total (alors Elf) a contribué au Land Use Act de 1978, qui a légalisé l’expropriation des paysans sans compensation.
Sous couvert de “développement”, elle a pris le contrôle du territoire et de ses lois, notamment en territoire Egi, dans l’état de Rivers.
Pollution et destruction
1978 : Marée noire gigantesque
1999 : Explosion d’une centrale à gaz
2012 : Explosion d’un champ de gaz à Ibewa, avec des colonnes de boues plus hautes que les palmiers.
Des centaines d’hectares rendus impropres à l’agriculture, l’eau devient toxique.
