Last month I gave a talk on radical poetic practice at a University in Hyderabad. Feels super relevant to what’s happening this week. Our libraries and bookstores are how we retain knowledge of our histories.

It's no surprise that when a dictatorship arises the first thing they do is burn the libraries. Shut down the universities. They want to ensure that all literature, all historical context and ideas about the history of that land are wiped out. Because it is only when the history, the literature, the poetry of a land remains can you rebuild it. writers and journalists lives are always under threat from political regimes for they write the truth.
