We organised a stargazing party in Sankt Andreasberg. I’m delighted that so many wonderful guests came along to enjoy the dark night sky up there. Alongside interesting talks and good conversations, I captured ionized oxygen and hydrogen in this part of the Eastern Veil Nebula. 🔭🤩🧪 #Astrophotography

IC 5076 captured from my patio on four nights in August 😊🔭 This was shot on the EdgeHD 8 for a total integration time of about 24 hours in mono using a QHY294M cam and combining LRGB and Ha narrowband data to enhance the background. #Astrophotography @kat-astro-bot.bsky.social‬ what do you see?
IC 5076 is a beautiful blueish reflection nebula which is illuminated by the hot blue supergiant star V2140 Cygni. It’s located in the constellation of Cygnus at an estimated distance of about 5,700 light years away from Earth.

The open star cluster NGC 6823 in the constellation Vulpecula is surrounded by the beautiful emission nebula NGC 6820. The object just fits on my camera’s sensor, so I photographed it in early summer and accumulated a good 8 h of exposure time. 🔭 #astrophotography @kat-astro-bot.bsky.social

MWP 1 - The Methuselah Nebula captured from my patio on eleven short summer nights in July and August 😊🔭 This was shot on the EdgeHD 8 for a total integration time of about 40 hours in mono with Ha and OIII narrowband filters and combined with RGB stars. #Astrophotography
The Methuselah Nebula is an exceptionally large ancient bipolar planetary nebula and therefore it’s very faint. Despite the long integration time the signal was very weak and noisy so processing this object was quite challenging!

MWP1 is located in the constellation of Cygnus at an estimated distance of about 4,500 light years away from Earth.

NGC 2626 Reflection Nebula in Vela (LRGB) NGC 2626 is a reflection nebula, emission nebula, and absorption/dark nebula in the constellation Vela (meaning "the sails" in Latin, the sails of a ship). #astrophotography #astronomy #photography @kat-astro-bot.bsky.social (See more => click ALT 👇)
NGC 2626 Reflection Nebula in Vela (LRGB). Astrophoto by Beatrice Heinze (Processing) and Telescope Live (Data).

It's a gorgeous nebula in the southern sky, located about 3,300 light-years away from Earth, and has no nickname.

This was my first time processing this nebula, and I'm pleasantly surprised about how the nebula turned out. The beautiful star colors, the blue in the reflection nebula, surrounded by the ruby red nebulosities (glowing hydrogen gas) and dark nebulae is just amazing.

I used the following software: Astro Pixel Processor for stacking, and PixInsight for processing.

Telescope: Planewave CDK24 (24 Inch/61cm)

Location: El Sauce Observatory, Rio Hurtado valley, Chile (Southern Hemisphere) => Bortle Class 1

Total exposure time: 10 hours.

Clear Skies everyone!

Wolf’s Cave Nebula is a peculiar target:
A reflection nebula at the tip of dark nebula. And this strange combo is even accompanied by an ancient planetary nebula and some supernova remnant filaments. All in one frame!

At the end of September, we went #birdwatching in Donana National Park in Spain. Here is a small selection of the birds I photographed there: one of many Hoopoes, a very curious Short-toed Snake Eagle and a Yellow-crowned Weaver. #birds 🦉 #BirdsSeenIn2025

LDN 1165 captured on two nights a couple of weeks ago 😊🔭 This was shot on the EdgeHD 8 with Hyperstar for a total integration time of 7 hours in OSC and Mono. I used the mono Ha data to enhance the red and the luminance details. #Astrophotography @kat-astro-bot.bsky.social‬ what do you see?
LDN 1165 is a dark nebula which really appears to be pitch black. Processing this image was more challenging than I expected. LDN 1165 is located in the constellation of Cepheus and it lies at a distance of about 1000 light years from Earth.

Comet C/2025 A6 (Lemmon) taken on 19 October from the roof of our garage at 135 mm focal length (stack of 192 10s-subs). Despite thin clouds and streetlights between the comet and me, the gas & dust tails are clearly visible in different colors. Brings back memories of Hale-Bopp #astrophotography

That was an exciting evening on 18 October: 2 cameras, 2 comets and, to top it off, some #auroraborealis: C/2025 R2 (SWAN) was close to the bright nebulae M16 & M17 and the open clusters NGC6645 & M25 (1. image). Comet C/2025 A6 (Lemmon) tried to hide behind clouds but failed (2.)😉 #astrophotography

Comet C/2025 A6 (Lemmon) in the early hours of 3 October, captured through the C8 with an ASI294mc and additionally with a Nikon D5600 and a Tamron 70-200 at a focal length of 130 mm. The #comet was also nice to observe visually and will hopefully brighten significantly. #astrophotography
