😊 Ja, das sind schon sehr schöne Tiere. Die Bienenfresser waren aber echt scheu, da gingen nur ein paar schnelle Schnappschüsse...

We spotted these two beauties on the Meseta Plateau south of Léon, Spain, while we were preparing for the total solar eclipse: a male Woodchat Shrike (Lanius senator) and one of quite a few European Bee-eaters (Merops apiaster). #NaturePhotography #birdwatching #BirdsSeenIn2026 #birds 🪶

We organised a stargazing party in Sankt Andreasberg. I’m delighted that so many wonderful guests came along to enjoy the dark night sky up there. Alongside interesting talks and good conversations, I captured ionized oxygen and hydrogen in this part of the Eastern Veil Nebula. 🔭🤩🧪 #Astrophotography

IC 5076 captured from my patio on four nights in August 😊🔭 This was shot on the EdgeHD 8 for a total integration time of about 24 hours in mono using a QHY294M cam and combining LRGB and Ha narrowband data to enhance the background. #Astrophotography @kat-astro-bot.bsky.social‬ what do you see?
IC 5076 is a beautiful blueish reflection nebula which is illuminated by the hot blue supergiant star V2140 Cygni. It’s located in the constellation of Cygnus at an estimated distance of about 5,700 light years away from Earth.

The open star cluster NGC 6823 in the constellation Vulpecula is surrounded by the beautiful emission nebula NGC 6820. The object just fits on my camera’s sensor, so I photographed it in early summer and accumulated a good 8 h of exposure time. 🔭 #astrophotography @kat-astro-bot.bsky.social

Comet #220P/McNaught is still easy to photograph following its outburst in early August. This is my shot taken from our terrace on 21 August, when it passed the galaxy IC 1873. Looking forward to seeing how the #comet develops over the coming months... #astrophotography 🔭

MWP 1 - The Methuselah Nebula captured from my patio on eleven short summer nights in July and August 😊🔭 This was shot on the EdgeHD 8 for a total integration time of about 40 hours in mono with Ha and OIII narrowband filters and combined with RGB stars. #Astrophotography
The Methuselah Nebula is an exceptionally large ancient bipolar planetary nebula and therefore it’s very faint. Despite the long integration time the signal was very weak and noisy so processing this object was quite challenging!

MWP1 is located in the constellation of Cygnus at an estimated distance of about 4,500 light years away from Earth.

We’re back from Spain and I’ve finally had a chance to look through my photos of the total solar #eclipse. We were able to watch the eclipse perfectly from south-east of León – at the edge of a sunflower field. What an experience! #Sonnenfinsternis #astrophotography 🔭

NGC 2626 Reflection Nebula in Vela (LRGB) NGC 2626 is a reflection nebula, emission nebula, and absorption/dark nebula in the constellation Vela (meaning "the sails" in Latin, the sails of a ship). #astrophotography #astronomy #photography @kat-astro-bot.bsky.social (See more => click ALT 👇)
NGC 2626 Reflection Nebula in Vela (LRGB). Astrophoto by Beatrice Heinze (Processing) and Telescope Live (Data).

It's a gorgeous nebula in the southern sky, located about 3,300 light-years away from Earth, and has no nickname.

This was my first time processing this nebula, and I'm pleasantly surprised about how the nebula turned out. The beautiful star colors, the blue in the reflection nebula, surrounded by the ruby red nebulosities (glowing hydrogen gas) and dark nebulae is just amazing.

I used the following software: Astro Pixel Processor for stacking, and PixInsight for processing.

Telescope: Planewave CDK24 (24 Inch/61cm)

Location: El Sauce Observatory, Rio Hurtado valley, Chile (Southern Hemisphere) => Bortle Class 1

Total exposure time: 10 hours.

Clear Skies everyone!

Currently, #comet 10P/Temple is at its brightest, though it can only be seen just above the horizon. I took this shot on 24 July through my C8 (23 x 2 mins) using an UV/IR cut filter. With the display set to full brightness, you can just make out the dust tail. #astrophotography 🔭 1/2

Thank you! There have been quite a few nights with difficult conditions, that's why it took so many nights (I wanted to get close to 10 h minimum...)

Andreas Fischer @afischer.bsky.social · 20/07/2026
Thank you, Bernd! Yes, that was one of my problems, Siril could not separate stars and galaxies. The other difficulty is the large area, because my C8 produces very blurry stars in the outer third... But, anyway, I like the object😁

The Coma Cluster (Abell 1656) consists of over 1,000 #galaxies and is about 300 million light-years away. I captured it over the course of 8 nights from April to June (about 9.5 h exposure), but processing turned out to be challenging. How many galaxies can you spot @kat-astro-bot.bsky.social? 🔭
