In Norse mythology, the ‘gard’ part of Midgard was the enclosure that surrounded the world of men. It represented the border between civilisation and natural chaos. This is reflected in the wall that encircles Midgar’s Slums, separating the city from the wildlands beyond. #FinalFantasymythology

Yup. Its one of the main reasons why I've never shied away using emulators and recomps. I'll gladly buy a port/remake/HDR for PS1 and N64 games if there's one available, but I want to play a game and it's not easily accessible, I'm not paying above MSRP for it unless it's a sealed copy. XD

October 5 2000, Ogre Battle 64: Person of Lordly Caliber debuted on the N64 in the Americas! Well respected Japanese dark fantasy artist Toshiaki Kato was commissioned to create the key character art used both on the cover of the Japanese release and the in game character portraits!

The links between OG FFVII’s Nibelheim and Norse mythology can be seen with the Odin Materia, the Rune Blade, and its name (based on Niflheimr). Remake continued the trend by including characters from an old runic alphabet on the outfit of Tifa, herself born in Nibelheim.

Tetsuya Nomura says his second favorite character he made is Red XIII. He drew him thinking it would be neat if a creature like that actually existed. In Greek mythology, the war goddess Athena is born from Zeus’ forehead, wearing full armor and a helmet, and wielding a spear and shield. Her Roman equivalent is Minerva, which explains why during Zack's fight with Minerva in Crisis Core, she's equipped with similar items to newborn Athena.

Ex: It's no question that Final Fantasy VII Remake and Rebirth were my favorite games of 2020 and 2024. But if I were on a some TGA-esque committee I'd give the GotY to Ghost of Tsushima and Dragon's Dogma II.

Also, I think I can call Onimusha: Way of the Sword my uncontested Game of the Year. -I'm probably passing on GTAVI until it hits PC -I'm also sure that Ocarina of Time will be GOAT'd; BUT I usually other out remakes when it comes to GotY.

If someone where to make mods so that Musashi was Bartz and Benki was Gilgamesh; I'd be in heaven. Wouldn't care if it's Bartz's Dissidia NT or Duellem model. (I only request this because I know we'll get Cloud and Sephiroth mods for Musashi and Ganryu at some point)
