Tyler Hoechlin says voicing Sephiroth was a different kind of challenge. He enjoys being on set more just because of the collaborative nature since with VO it's a little more isolating, but it's a fun challenge and he'd be curious to do something that's not a remake and more an original thing...

Tetsuya Nomura says his second favorite character he made is Red XIII. He drew him thinking it would be neat if a creature like that actually existed. Incidentally, Nomura's third favorite character is the Moomba, which he says is kind of what you get when Red XIII walks on two legs. -GameWalker #71

Naoki Hamaguchi says that in FFVII Rebirth, there was a piano mini-game. This time around, that’s been greatly expanded, and it now contains information related to Tifa. You can learn more about Tifa by playing this Piano game. He says he's definitely going to get asked by PR why he just said that.

For the public demo, it’s a hyper-focused version of one of the earlier chapters. You get to experience what the game feels like, how Cid plays, the story… the focus is very clear

Final Fantasy VII Revelation Director Naoki Hamaguchi says that one of the purposes of the Whispers is ensuring that the lore and events of the original game's story are well preserved in the Remake series. That in turn ensures there's always a sense of respect toward the original game's storyline.
Interviewer: Well that's definitely got me excited. Zack's presence is quite a big deal. How did you approach the discrepancies we see between the OG and the Remake series?

Hamaguchi: FFVII is a very popular IP. So even when we make changes, I think it's essential that we respect the storyline of the original game. If you go and change the story out of nowhere, that's just a straight-up alteration, right? But by having these Whisper entities, the original game's story gets preserved. And that's exactly what the Whispers do. Essentially, it's because we're trying to deviate from the original game's story that the Whispers increase their influence. One of the purposes of the Whispers is ensuring that the lore and events of the original game's story are well preserved in the Remake series. That in turn ensures there's always a sense of respect toward the original game's storyline. Interviewer: An explanation of that sort for the Whispers was hinted at in Rebirth. I'm wondering if they've reached the end of their role in the story, or if we'll still see the Whispers involved in Revelation. Hamaguchi: I can't really go deep into detail on that right now, but I can say that we've depicted the Whispers as a significant element in and throughout the series. Naturally, that will hold true for Revelation as well.

Final Fantasy VII Revelation Director Naoki Hamaguchi says that Professor Gast's recordings in the Icicle Frostbelt are extremely important to Aerith's character, so they've made sure to cover that thoroughly. (IGN, 9/10) #FF7R
Final Fantasy VII Revelation Director Naoki Hamaguchi says that Professor Gast's recordings in the Icicle Frostbelt are extremely important to Aerith's character, so they've made sure to cover that thoroughly. (IGN, 9/10)Interviewer: Compared to the OG, it seems like this game will kick off fairly well in the heart of the story, which makes me curious how it will handle the sequence with Professor Gast's video tapes in Icicle Lodge. After all, Professor Gast is really a key character who lies at the origin of the story's drama.

Hamaguchi: That's a real insightful observation [laughs]. We've depicted that stuff in a really interesting way this time. Professor Gast's recordings in the Icicle Frostbelt are extremely important to Aerith's character, so we've made sure to cover that thoroughly. When people in the press ask how long it takes to acquire the Highwind, I always tell them you can get it around the four or five hour mark early in the game. The demo this time covers Chapter 4, and takes place right after you've obtained the Highwind. In the original game, you cross the Icicle Frostbelt after the Forgotten Capital, then head to the Great Cavity, then to Junon, then you get Mideel. So people are skeptical if four or five hours is enough time to cover that. I'll say that we've made the game start in a way that's totally different from what I expect people are imagining at this point. There's a truly huge surprise there in terms of how the game starts off, so I hope everyone looks forward to that.
