Over the weekend, a storm in the Baltic states caused significant disruption to power supplies and at least 2 deaths. An experimental reanalysis-based attribution approach suggests that ~20% more rain fell than if the same weather pattern had occurred in a world that was 1°C cooler.
A Baltic storm caused significant damage on 22nd August 2026, but more rain fell than would have done had the world been cooler.

A parody of the famous album cover of The Clash, London Calling. The text is replaced by 'The Crash, London Not Calling'. The original black and white photo of Paul Simonon of The Clash, smashing his bass guitar on stage is replaced by a black and white image of a Song Thrush smashing a snail against a paving slab, with rocks and plants in the background. Over the photo in red is a graph of the annual relative population abundance of Song Thrush in London, as measured by the BTO/JNCC/RSPB Breeding Bird Survey, which shows a 47% decline between 1995 and 2024.
