"Come to your own answers rather than have it explained to you" is the most Final Fantasy VII thing they could do with the ending. Jury's out on what player choices and personal interpretations really mean for the story, but a clear black and white answer to everything in the story just isn't FF7.

Remake isn't the OG. The OG wasn't about predestination and fate. The moment Aeris is "fated" to die is the moment Remake was not telling the story of loss and is doing something new. I'd go so far as to say the Re-trilogy will not make sense thematically if she can't be saved at this point.
