It’s nice to be in Seattle on Indigenous People’s Day. They show reverence for the First Nations here in a way not done back home. The city was named for Si'ahl, a leader of the Duwamish and Sequamish tribes who was instrumental in opening relations with the newcomers. It honors that history today.
