i'm now fairly confident to say that if ffxiv has an ignis kind of character—if there's anyone among the scions whom you'd find crumpled on the ground in the rain, hair a mess, sobbing that they don't want to die without the wol, would *rewrite* the canon ending on the wol's behalf—it's y'shtola

a gpose image of a young y'shtola. y'shtola looks on toward a drippy floating beside her with a joyous expression while standing knee-deep in a lake. a rise of multicolored bubbles floats about them in the midst of an early sunset.

If only the funny sylph quest chain wasn't trimmed down but at least the wolshtola crumbs stayed :> absolutely love how wol looked back at y'shtola as if they'll get any hints from her face. her immediately turning down The Question written on wol's face doesn't dub her as sus at all. nope.

It's so bad, he insisted on salvaging his hair first before having his injuries patched up. NONE of the Scions recognised him Fast forward, Thancred ribbed Teru for not seeing that hairstyle for a long time in EW and asked if he's still sore bout it-- his tail swept his feet off the ground for that

And i think it's because of it that he found similar interests with Y'shtola back in ARR (i am Not Sure yet when exactly he realizes his feelings for her) I got a whole brainrot doc for this that Might see the light of day. Emphasis on might--

001

Aeid || (• ∆ •)9 ✨ @aeidentity.bsky.social · 04/10/2026

Im so giddy this is canon i've always characterized Teru as being an explorer first and foremost, it's his reason for adventuring, why he took a shot in the dark being cooped up in Sui-no-sato and Kugane his entire life, he wanted to Know the world beyond the seas!!

100

Aeid || (• ∆ •)9 ✨ @aeidentity.bsky.social · 04/10/2026

Thancred commenting bout her being so smiley all of a sudden what a lil shit i love him LOL but yes im very Normal bout this cuz wdym Y'shtola wants WoL's company every time there's some ancient ruins to explore-- also everything and in between the unknown she always seeks them out first it's so. 🫪

100

Aeid || (• ∆ •)9 ✨ @aeidentity.bsky.social · 04/10/2026

Thinking once again about Moriteru "Would you care for company?" Tomonaga (my WoL) and Y'shtola "I wouldn't dream of going without you" Rhul during 5.3 or 5.2 and then being reminded of This scene during 5.0

Even this missable dialogue in Endwalker, she worries for the twins after what happened beforehand. There's also the time she rushed off to Lyse's side after That despite barely holding her own self like-- she's such a lover deep inside that dignified cool image she's maintaining

100

Aeid || (• ∆ •)9 ✨ @aeidentity.bsky.social · 03/10/2026

Nothing renders me to pieces more than this woman fretting over our well-being versus the general consensus the fandom see her as this 'girlboss stoic queen' she's anything But stoic y'all 😭😭 the fact Y'shtola was the FIRST to snap out of her shock to try fend off WoL or help them in any way

110

Aeid || (• ∆ •)9 ✨ @aeidentity.bsky.social · 03/10/2026

Even the faint voice lines WoL hears at the cusp of being brought back from the dead, her tone had the same shivering fear she expressed in the inn room scene!! Y'shtola knows she wanted to tear WoL apart for being foolish but not like this!!

000

Aeid || (• ∆ •)9 ✨ @aeidentity.bsky.social · 29/09/2026

By the same token, imagine seeing your not-yet-lover-but-definitely-more-than-a-friend for the first time in YEARS And then just-- the sheer image of WoL beaten, broken, battered, and prbly missing a limb (like Teru) burns into her mind. Oh i know it keeps her up at night

Wolshtola shippers never run out of angst materials ever since. Practically since the bloody banquet omfg 😭 plus i noticed her expression shifted when the Scions were praying for the WoL's safety and triumph, that woman was MAD WORRIED and M A D i tell you

nobody suffers more in wolshtola than y’shtola not just bc of the inn room scene to zenos fight broken promise pipeline but bc in shb she’s got like the witch equivalent of a husband killer robe with a boob window and backless corset and then she can’t even see wol’s reaction to her showing up in it

i think the fact that she says at the very end of endwalker that she wants to write a book but is afraid she can't do the events justice is intentional poetic irony, because she has some of the most emotional and beautifully phrased lines in the game
