Temperatures have fallen off a cliff here and this morning it is cold. Not cool but COLD! Now it's time to light the wood stove for the first time this season. Ironically I'm planning on trimming the beard down considerably today or tomorrow as I'm tired of fucking with it.

Selfie vacation pics. Nothing special. Just me running to get in front of the camera and trying to look natural. Enjoy if possible. Unfortunately, my little excursion did little to make me feel less exhausted at and because of work. Today will be long and hot with me dodging the bosses eye.

Sunrise and I'm feeling as stiff and sleepy as I look here.

Had to run like hell to get up here. I kept increasing the camera's timer delay thinking that it would be enough. I got it but if I had my head with me at the time, I could have made this a better shot.

Today I went to the town of Keeler CA where I ran into a production crew filming something. I walked over, kept my distance and got this quick video. Once they started filming, I put my phone down. They did two takes of the scene. This is twice now I ran into a film set this week.

Today I went to the Manzinar Japanese internment camp. I've been there before and every time I visit I learn more. Most of the pictures I got there were on my real camera. Here's a few I got on my phone. Mess hall, women's latrine (2), and guard tower.

Sigh. I was hoping we could avoid all this this time around but the fire season has let us know that it hasn't forgot us. Fortunately this is in the other county and moving away from us. And on a related note: my home owner's insurance just doubled adding an additional $250 to my monthly mortgage.

As a late update, I did indeed survive training in Sacramento this week. However, the most notable thing to happen was when a co-worker of mine experienced his first trip to IKEA. I previously explained to him earlier that IKEA is actually the world's largest escape room. He agreed upon exiting.

Dear Diary, Today I almost drowned at work. Again. Training had me float downstream through rapids with all my gear on. Five people were downstream set to throw life lines to me. They all missed. Eventually they dragged me out of the river, and I took a selfie while catching my breath. 🤬

First triple digit temps this summer at my place. At the start of the early evening it's still too warm outside to open the windows. Normally this starts in July but last month's weather was amazingly mild. That ended today, yet I'm good with that even without AC. I dress scantily like a whore.

Playing with AI again in Google photos and this came up. This is the me that my mom wishes I was. Not a hair out of place in the beard. So far I've stayed at two Airbnb places. Neither of them was chosen by me. Yesterday that changes as I reserved a place for a three night stay a couple of months from now. It's a tiny home which will be a first for me. I do like roughing it though (with running water, mini kitchen, and AC).

An attempt was made at making a black bean hamburger. The patties were mushy. This is what I get for trying to eat healthy. Actually I did screw this up a bit. Halfway through I realize I didn't have any regular oatmeal but rather steel rolled oats. I cooked those oats hoping for the best.

As good as it looks here, the cooked steel rolled oats I added instead of plane uncooked were insufficient as a binding agent to hold the patty together. The taste wasn't too bad since it did include avocado, shiitake mushrooms, and yellow onion. Another problem is that the recipe requires the use of a large food processor. I only have a small one so I had to mix in three separate batches and then mixed them all together in a bowl. It got a little tedious. I'll try this again some other day.

It seems like this is Power Interruption season as I had no electricity (again) at home for most of yesterday starting around noon. Thrice they said it would come on. It was after midnight when power was restored. I'm afraid to look in my freezer to see what happened to my frozen berries and shrimp.
