Temperatures have fallen off a cliff here and this morning it is cold. Not cool but COLD! Now it's time to light the wood stove for the first time this season. Ironically I'm planning on trimming the beard down considerably today or tomorrow as I'm tired of fucking with it.

Selfie vacation pics. Nothing special. Just me running to get in front of the camera and trying to look natural. Enjoy if possible. Unfortunately, my little excursion did little to make me feel less exhausted at and because of work. Today will be long and hot with me dodging the bosses eye.

Sunrise and I'm feeling as stiff and sleepy as I look here.

Had to run like hell to get up here. I kept increasing the camera's timer delay thinking that it would be enough. I got it but if I had my head with me at the time, I could have made this a better shot.

The other day I asked myself a question as to whether I would prefer to lose my wallet or my phone. My answer is to lose the wallet as I can always freeze my CCs via my phone, and I usually carry little cash. Getting a new driver's license can be a pain but is doable. Cell phones though are $$.

When on vacation, I always look around and ask myself if this is a place that I might want to move to. After five days away, I come home to find that I didn't lock the sliding glass door in the back of the house. No issues and not shocked things are fine. Then I realize that where I'm at isn't bad.

Today I went to the town of Keeler CA where I ran into a production crew filming something. I walked over, kept my distance and got this quick video. Once they started filming, I put my phone down. They did two takes of the scene. This is twice now I ran into a film set this week.

Today I went to the Manzinar Japanese internment camp. I've been there before and every time I visit I learn more. Most of the pictures I got there were on my real camera. Here's a few I got on my phone. Mess hall, women's latrine (2), and guard tower.

Today while going through the agonizing pain of refueling my car this morning, I saw this on the pump. It must have worked because the price dropped 10¢/gal as I was driving home this afternoon. I don't know why I haven't seen these before, but I'm glad someone is doing it finally.

1/5 Well I just finished a bottle of wine tonight after a strong beer. It's been a while since I pulled off that trick. I'm fine now as it was surprisingly cathartic. Wine with me seems to hit differently than all other alcoholic drinks. I seem to appreciate art, science and music greatly from it.

Sigh. I was hoping we could avoid all this this time around but the fire season has let us know that it hasn't forgot us. Fortunately this is in the other county and moving away from us. And on a related note: my home owner's insurance just doubled adding an additional $250 to my monthly mortgage.

As a late update, I did indeed survive training in Sacramento this week. However, the most notable thing to happen was when a co-worker of mine experienced his first trip to IKEA. I previously explained to him earlier that IKEA is actually the world's largest escape room. He agreed upon exiting.

Dear Diary, Today I almost drowned at work. Again. Training had me float downstream through rapids with all my gear on. Five people were downstream set to throw life lines to me. They all missed. Eventually they dragged me out of the river, and I took a selfie while catching my breath. 🤬

For once a Monday I'm not dreading. Today at work we travel to Sac-o-tomatoes (Sacramento) for training until Thursday. Then I have the day off on Friday for a four-day Labor Day weekend. This is where my "home gym" equipment lives. Next to the TV where I follow the Indian club workout routines on YouTube. I've hit myself just slightly in the head and shoulder with the 2 lbs. clubs a few times trying to be fancy and it hurt. It dawns on me that they're perfect for home defense.

A fairly intense day out in the field yesterday. Working with three others, we finished up about 1:30 PM when it was 106 °F (41 °C). Also I scrapped my leg with a rusty and dirty piece of metal we pulled up from the ground. I think I've had my tetanus shot up to date. Feeling like 💩. Sick day today?

First triple digit temps this summer at my place. At the start of the early evening it's still too warm outside to open the windows. Normally this starts in July but last month's weather was amazingly mild. That ended today, yet I'm good with that even without AC. I dress scantily like a whore.

Playing with AI again in Google photos and this came up. This is the me that my mom wishes I was. Not a hair out of place in the beard. So far I've stayed at two Airbnb places. Neither of them was chosen by me. Yesterday that changes as I reserved a place for a three night stay a couple of months from now. It's a tiny home which will be a first for me. I do like roughing it though (with running water, mini kitchen, and AC).
