Why am I running for the Dáil? It’s because I want to deliver a better Dublin. I want to deliver a Dublin where people can afford to rent or buy a house, a Dublin where our communities aren’t divided by social class.

I don’t believe there’s any law on when you can and can’t canvass because it’s just knocking a door, and plenty of politicians do it all year round to talk to constituents not just at election time.

It’s in direct response to being asked about Hutch…
Janet Horner, who was selected for the party ticket this month, told the Sunday Independent she believes more women need to enter politics, with only three set to contest the seat vacated by former finance minister Paschal Donohoe.
Seven men across various parties are also in the running.
After a week in which Rex Ryan's play at the Ambassador theatre in Dublin was criticised by some for glorifying Hutch, who has said he will contest the by-election, Ms Horner said anyone is entitled to run.
"I know what my policy platform is," she said. "I don't think that Dublin Central needs more hard-men figures coming in, trying to engage in a confrontational, robust way.

A big blanket VAT cut? It's a bad idea. Better to give smarter, more targetted supports for cafes and restaurants. We've set out a way to give more to small businesses while spending about a third of what the government are planning. Be smart: do more, spend less!
