Until an AI can have a representation of every human on the planet, the weather, news, sports and whatever else at the same time, we are nowhere near a smart machine. Until then, it's clever statistical models which can go far, but no intelligence involved.

I think the academics call it a "world model" and yea, that's a big barrier...which they're very far from resolving. It can be faked by the LLMs, quite a bit, but easily tricked with some slightly unusual physics-bending questions.

Along those lines, our communications went essentially dark to space within those 100 years. That is, blasting our communications into space was really inefficient and we primarily went underground with the internet in that timespan. If other life follows even a slightly similar tech tree, *poof*.
