2 of 4 shortlist for an open role at my job are remote so they'd have to relocate (job is 100% on site no remote or hybrid) and recruiter casually drops 'well we could offer relocation up to 8k for the right person' Excuse me ?? Where was that 8k when I moved ky->ma a year ago?! I got nothing!!

anyone have recommendations for good excel resources on how to clean and match data across multiple reports, and then use if/then statements to populate other values in the row, based on a third reference point fixed spreadsheet?? Does this make any sense ??

work continues to kill me to death with hammers but I feel better seeing how incredibly nonchalant my director is about stuff I was very stressed over. he's worked here for like 20+ years, if he doesn't care then I don't care!!!

Turns out none of my leadership or colleagues yelled at me but I am experiencing the natural consequences of my bad decision, which is fair I think

played this last night + been thinking about it since. there's so much to sink your teeth into. We were discussing and dissecting it for like 3 hours in voice and I could keep going. There's SO MUCH folded into a beautifully succinct 90 minute game. it will make you feel wretched + it's so so good

A really delicious theorization of what's going on here culturally is Anna Kornbluh's _Immediacy_ book from 2024. "Three queueing" skips past phonics. Chromebook screens devalue physical teachers. Stdized tests teach reading passages or defining words correctly. Fetish of the right here right now.

(very first world problem) at my old salaried job, it was treated as truly salaried, so if i took off for half a day i never used PTO hours for it (bc the hours were made up by working evenings / weekends). i got a huge vacation payout when i left of all the accrued hours my new job DOES track.

super impressed. at 20 I was in college with no clear idea of what I wanted to do for a living, only that I wanted to be able to pay my bills, save, and still have time for art and friends and travel. now I have all of that plus a beloved partner and a stupid cat. life's great!!
