Great fiction helps you see the world as it truly is. For instance, the day I read Kafka’s Before the law, is the last day I ever submitted a query to a literary agent. 😂

Honestly, super hero stuff is its own genre and should not be bundled with science fiction, please.

My writing process depends on what I’m writing. Science fiction starts with research which I thoroughly enjoy. Nigerian/African speculative fiction, though, comes fully formed, like an ancestral dream which I must urgently translate to words before it is taken away. #writingprocess

So I love Dark Matter. Die hard Blake Crouch fan here since Wayward Pines. But I hope we all know that ‘observation’ in the double slit experiment—which has been combined with Everett’s Many Worlds interpretation as the foundational premise of this brilliant book/series—does not imply consciousness!

Octavia Butler’s Dawn is still one of the best first contact novels I’ve ever read. The mystery builds and builds until you’re thrust, with Lilith, into this horrifying awareness. The Oankali. What a delicious story! I probably need to re-read the whole series again. Thank you, Octavia.#bookrecs

New to Bluesky! Yes, late to the party. Best time to announce that my short story ‘Of All Who Dream’ appears in @lightspeedmagazine.com this August! It’s a tale that tries to peer beneath the hood of what makes up consciousness and reality. Get epub: www.lightspeedmagazine.com/issues/light...
