It's officially Autumn, and nothing's better than a cozy slumber party while the nights get longer and cooler! What does your character wear to the slumber party, and as a bonus, is it seasonally festive? 🎃🍂🕯️ #OCSLUMBERPARTY #art

Another thing I have fun with wrt Saint Solis is he's so bad at being kind because his social skills are abysmal. He has a point in Astra where he fumblingly tries to praise his Apostle, fails to convey this whatsoever, and then immediately gives up. Lmao.

I finally get to see the perfect version of me / The only problem happens to be it’s not actually me [OCs]

Drawing of the poster’s OCs in greyscale. Apostle Solis stands in the foreground, talking to people out of frame. He’s smiling and engaged and looks casual. A distance behind him, Saint Solis stands with both sets of arms crossed, frowning as he wordlessly observes. He has not a hair out of place and there’s a stylized saint halo around his head like the ones seen in religious art.

Saint Solis doesn't know what he wants. His clone being nothing like him is aggravating, but his clone being just like him would be grounds for total mistrust. He wants to kill his clone for being embarrassing and irreverent, but comes apart over losing him.

Laurel and River!! She was his first friend after he started trying to put his life back together. [OCs]

Drawing of the poster’s OCs posing together as if for a photo. Laurel is a young woman with a ponytail and big hairclip, waving to the unseen photographer. River is sitting close to her. He has long dark curls held back from his face with hair pins. Both characters are smiling and wearing casual clothes like they’re out on a warm day.

My RL friend said she was like "GO AWAY" every time Arran showed up to make hopeful heart emojis at River, but what she does not realize is that way later, post time-skips, River's ex-bf Kellen is still into him. He just thinks he's not capable of handling River's uh. Stack of problems.

Solis is competent and yet he's out here like "oh the horrible dread song from the other half of the universe doesn't make my inherent Aspect type freak out as much anymore. I guess it's because I got used to it!" it's because you're in love with its user and not misinterpreting it, dumbass

120

thisintermezzo art alt @adelaides-hall.bsky.social · 21/09/2026

Of course River's friends didn't want him to feel bad for the usual reasons (it sucks when your friends are having a bad time and you have a limited ability to help fix it), but there's another reason, which is that if he gets too moody and miserable he may exude existential dread energy.

A pen and color pencil drawing of Apostle Solis and River Zheng from Astra Inclinant. Solis, a green, mantis-like alien, leans against River, his forehead resting against River's temple. Solis's bottom set of eyes are closed, and his top eyes stare blankly forward, his expression quietly worried. River sits next to him, one arm hidden behind Solis, the other holding one of Solis's upper hands. He looks at Solis in more open worry, his lips parted. Both men look tired.
Solis is dressed in his usual uniform, while River is dressed more casually in a black t-shirt and pants. He has a simple bracelet on his wrist and a ring on a necklace hanging around his neck.

I realize that anyone who didn’t read Astra doesn’t know about all my miscellaneous side OCs, but Laurel is Nall’s twin sister, so River got an immediate leg-up on the friend-finding. Nall was like “what do you MEAN you don’t have friends!!!!” And then helped him meet more people.

I have some OCs whose color schemes shift a little bit sometimes for various reason so uh if you’re like “what color is River’s hair” the answer is. Um. The. The more purple color I’ve been trying to stick to recently is more in line with how I described it in the actual text.

Reading before bed. [OCs]

Sequential images of the poster’s OCs.

1 -
River, sitting in bed, propped up against his pillows. He’s reading intently from a semi-transparent holoscreen. There’s a bubble pointing to it that says R18.

2 -
Solis, climbing onto the bed in his pyjamas: “What are you reading?”
River, cheerfully: “Porn.”

Solis is sitting cuddled up to River in bed with an exasperated look on his face.

Solis, a little embarrassed: “I can read it myself, thanks.”
River, sparkling and looking interested: “But it’s more interesting if I give you the lore.”
Solis: “The porn has lore?”
River: “Yeah!”

There’s a very small bubble with a drawn ::/ emoji in it.

For the benefit of some friends, I made an Astra Inclinant “summary edition” and it’s a tidy little 7.5k words (versus the 321k of the actual story). So if you’re curious about my bug yaoi but know in your heart of hearts you can’t read all that, here’s an alternative. toyhou.se/~literature/...
