I cannot believe my experience of peeking at digitising a copy of "The Lion King" on VHS, the first time I've seen the film presented through VHS in decades, is turning me deeper into a "oh my gosh, I need to get X and Y to experience this look but cleaner and better" rabbit hole.

Just uninstalled Chrome from my computer after replacing it on my Steam Deck to combat Google's intense double-triple-downing on generative-AI. This is what I sent as feedback to them when prompted by a webpage.

"The continued reliance and overuse of generative-AI features are things I refuse to interact with and not only do I think Google are wrong to force them onto users in all of their services without asking or giving people a straight option to turn those features off, but this is a gigantic waste of time, resources and money on Google's part to which continued use is only delaying the obvious fact that this is a bad-faith grift built to compromise both user expression and the environment. In other words, not only would it hurt so much of what people value from tech but it also speeds up the worsening climate crisis. The real future is looking back at this current moment and realising that we let so many people be taken as fools and the damage done would take another decade to fix. But it'd be easier to fix the damage if you start realising what's wrong *now* rather than when so much money has been wasted and the environmental problems encouraged by intense data-center uses have already done irreversible damage to our planet. Know it's okay to be wrong, do better and stop being so keen to let cynical capital-clout chasers keep screwing you and everyone else over just for short-term "profits". The bubble will burst, make the right choices."

Almost 20 years ago, we as a family went to the cinema to see "The Devil Wears Prada" on Halloween night because my Mum wasn't feeling doing Halloween that year (Dad's workfriend's suggestion) and we celebrated Halloween every year since and the film became an in-joke. My hell has now frozen over.
