iiinova — where your digital self keeps evolving

The Sony news abut stopping physical games for their console might actually be what gets me to crash out about the state of the gaming industry. In fact, it's just part and parcel of the move towards media being fully digital and us owning nothing. Fuck that.

Some days at work just make your entire month or even year just better. Came across a blog called Pornocchio, dedicated entirely to photoshopping larger and larger noses onto women in porn scenes. The dedication alone in photoshopping all 800+ entries, none of this AI bullshit. I bow to you, sir.

Mad respect to water bottle companies that fill bottles to the absolute brim. I want my water sloshing on me as i open it, none of this only to the neck bullshit.

Applies to some tools, but this is where fine design makes a difference. Code is cheap to prompt, but the real bottleneck to good products is thinking through 99,999 design decisions and considering every edge case. DIY-ing your own tools will teach you how hard beautiful, thoughtful design is

I've said it before, but this video on VFX is truly amazing. @tvaziri.com describes this work in such an educational and joyful way. And with lots of space movies, which is a nice bonus. Thanks @adamlancegarcia.bsky.social for this video 👍

As half the internet seems to go down and a lot of other streaming services go down, i'm really happy i've made sure to atleast have some self-hosted services, including my Plex library, to work with. Self-hosting is always great.

I'm not sure American folks seem to understand that so many of these right-wing pundits/"influencers" are wholly ready to incite violence towards those they disagree with. Charlie Kirk's death was just an excuse to yell that publicly. They're just waiting for the next time. People will die over it.

Only one more day until Series 20 of Taskmaster begins and i am so giddy. This show is just pure comfort watch, through 20 series it has not gone wrong. That's just incredible.

Have been setting up my home library system, currently entirely on my older Macbook Pro M1 Pro as a temporary solution, and i hadn't been aware of how damn useful something like Tailscale (tailscale.com) is. Running pi-hole and vpn through it, easy to install and setup. Chef's kiss.

Unfortunately true. While we will see (if we're not already seeing it) a slow-down of the scale of technological breakthroughs, there will be a major breakthrough at some point to catapult it back into finally becoming something not as shitty, but useful for consumers... At some point... i imagine.

I haven't lived in London for over a decade but i still buy a yearly membership to the @princecharlescinema.com , just for those chances i get to visit. Even if it's just for two or three days, i'll try and cram in as many movies as i can. This place is a treasure in so many ways. Absolute magic.

As someone who works with DMCA notices and user-generated content, i can not understate how badly people really do fail to understand the basics of copyright and Fair Use, with most companies and DMCA agents failing to understand Fair Use. But sometimes it's also just them being malicious.

A small collection of amusing sightings during my walks

A sign on a coffee shop that reads “The best coffee is the coffee you like”.

A sign on a window to a pizza place that reads “Together we are pizza!”

A sign on a stall that reads in quotation marks “Cigarettes sold here”.

A street box that has been pencilled on to show a smile face with a text below it that reads in quotation”U look good!”

Having just finished up #Andor, i am once again reminded of what an amazing show this is. Not just a great Star Wars story, and arguably the best one there is as of now, but an amazing work of art on its own. I will truly miss this show, but now is time to rewatch Rogue One and enjoy it even more.
