Two years ago at an enduro mountain bike race I suffered a severe ankle injury – broke it in 3 places, dislocated it, and shredded all the ligaments – couldn’t walk for 18 weeks. Today, I submitted a proposal to study ideas stemming from that experience. Inspiration comes from unexpected places.

Ecologists are obsessed with linking process and pattern, but quantifying the core processes of community assembly (and their interactions) in a natural setting is extremely hard. But we've done it! Using a fun new method. Very proud of this paper and of Emilie and Megan's leadership 🥳
