I came across this Michelle Branch promo video for some kind of live event (because I still watch 90s music videos on YouTube) and the tone is just so eerie I wanted to share it. It's doing all the nostalgia things with old tv and old footage but she seems so depressed and regretful. Weird promo!

Steam Summer Sale starts today and Watch Dogs 2 is only $2.50 or $4 for the complete edition. Still in my top 5 open world games, great characters and it's so much fun to goof around in fake San Francisco. Definitely recommend picking it up if you've never played it.

The new @garbageday.email newsletter is saying all the things I've been yelling incoherently. It's this kind of thinking that makes me hopeful for the future.

This is a question I keep asking myself about, well, the entire internet lately. “What if this all just doesn’t work this time?” What if AI companies can’t replace search? What if streaming video can’t replace Hollywood? What if short-form video apps can’t replace social media users? What if Silicon Valley can’t brute force their products — and ideology — onto the masses again? To take it even further, what if the dot com crash and the AI crash are actually part of the same 25 years epoch of technological stagnation? I’m not going to lie, I find this line of questioning exhilarating.

This is really fucking me up. I don't even know what software you'd be able to buy in a Best Buy in 2026. I need reporters to ask Newsom about this everyday until he fades into obscurity. It really is the most revealing "I've never shopped in a store before" type shit.

The new Starfox character designs viscerally disagree with my eyeballs. I was disappointed in 1997 when I beat Starfox 64 on my first sitting. I will still probably slurp this remake up because everything is hell and we all need to be reminded of a past when it seemed things could get better.

It's been over 15 years since I owned computer speakers (they didn't make the move to LA), but I'm doing enough video editing again that it seemed like a smart thing to have again. Got these today and spent the whole day cleaning up my workstation and making room for them. They sound like speakers!
