Next: 🇩🇪 realizes that they have spent almost a 1000 bln € replacing one low carbon source with another. But you can't force others in the 🇪🇺 to commit to the same level of self-sabotagge. This is on You: Angela and Schröder.

Enter "clean power target" which is the ultimate goal here, which is technologically agnostic and even 🇩🇪 starts to recognize it. "Cat needs to catch the mice. It does not matter if it is black or white." /Deng/ 2/n

Hell is freezing over. But it is a good thing, and a very positive signal from Berlin. I wrote many times how EU's own "renewable target" is disfunctinal. Countries like 🇲🇫 would be obligated to build new gas+renewables to meet the target, increasing CO2 emissions. Crazy. 1/n

ZNPP was stolen. Russia is actively busy trying to put it back online. (And I hope they will fail at it as it should return to Ukraine) That is because an NPP is a valuable asset. www.ukrainianworldcongress.org/isw-russia-n...

In France and Switzerland, nuclear plants went offline, while in Romania, Hungary, and Bulgaria they shut down or reduced output

I think the data speaks for itself. Also PL-UA link is only 400 kV. Ukraine grid is standing on Ukrainian nuclear reactors, not import which is onlly supporting it.

ZNPP was first and foremost stolen. Not destroyed, stolen. Since then, the reactors are in cold shut down and Putin's forces use it to store vehicles and material. Operating reactors in Ukraine are not attacked. united24media.com/latest-news/...

Antinuclear voices are raising alarm each time there is anything happening anywhere near an NPP. But facts are simple: Ukrainian NPPs are the ONLY power plants NOT attcked by Russia. If it wasn't for nuclear power, Ukraine would alread have had blackouts and be without power in winter.

This was the idea behind Superphoenix reactor in France, but a leader of Swiss Greens decided he should shot an RPG rocket at the building site. It was later closed due to public opposition from people who argued to be proenvironment. A huge misunderstanding. www.nytimes.com/1982/01/20/w...

Reprocessing of fuel is the best example of zero waste circular economy. I think we should all strive to close the nuclear cycle and burn even the nasty waste in fast reactors, and breed new fuel in breeder reactors instead of extracting all the fuel from the environment.

Adam Blazowski @adamblazowski.bsky.social · 26/06/2026
True, the weight is not very important. It is done once, even if you need go replace them after 15 years, you have recycling. But even if the cost is two orders of magnitude smaller (very unlikely) the price of electricity during flaute would have to be astronomical to make this economically viable

5/n Germans will subsidise fossil fuel infrastructure to keep lights on. In fact they already do that. Germany does not have a credible scenario to reach net zero. It only cares about expanding renewables, and getting rid of low carbon nuclear - even if it means subsidising fossil natural gas.

Adam Blazowski @adamblazowski.bsky.social · 26/06/2026
4/n BOTH duration of such events and their rarity. Nobody will invest billions into storage used few times a year. There is mantra that coal and gas are "not economic anymore". Guess what, when your coal power plant keeps your grid running NOBODY CARES.

3/n This kind of problem can't be solved with demand response, V2G or batteries. And it makes fossil fuels indispensable in future German grid. Germany is now in the process of replacing coal power plants with natural gas plants Natural gas it does not have. Battery costs are affected by ...

2/n But what antinuclear pundits avoid this way, is a discussion about a complete collapse of wind energy during "heitzflaute" (new term). Coal&gas keep German grid humming, with strong imports (also from uclear France). Surplus PV at noon is even pushed to Poland which curtails its PV too already

Adam Blazowski @adamblazowski.bsky.social · 26/06/2026
1/n You've probably heard already about (some) French reactors coasting down due to not wanting to overheat rivers. Antinuclear voices love to amplify that event every year, despite the fact that it is a temporary measure and only affects 5% of French capacity, with exports still going strong.

Being part of those events is very personal to me. Belgium was poised on self destruction of its low carbon electricity generation. Today this course is reversed and although the damage was done, worse case scenario might be averted. And people who caused it are today proud to have stopped it! ;)

Very nice theory but very few numbers. Can you share your modeling assumptions?

Adam Blazowski @adamblazowski.bsky.social · 28/04/2026
If this was financially viable, grid operators would be first to implement it. Much faster than end users (as is happening in some rich in solar energy countries) In Germany or Poland arbitrage is still a very poor business case for home batteries. I know because I was selling this to bussineses.

Adam Blazowski @adamblazowski.bsky.social · 24/04/2026
Yes, this a typical green neoliberal approach that I do not subscribe to. Scarcity pricing is a bad mechanism for long term, strategic decisions that need to keep the grid stable and requier years of planning befor decisions are realized and needed. Markets are tools, not the goal in itself.

Significant overbuild will destroy projects bankability unless we abandon market mechanism and just continously fund them when they overproduce but consumption is limited. But this model is already bankrupt in Germany as explained by min Reiche. www.cleanenergywire.org/news/germany...

The grid serves everyone and is needed all the time. So project that do not pay for it are parasitic. Everyone should pay grid fees lest its cost will drop on the poor who do not own roof or land. It is a negative social transfer.

Adam Blazowski @adamblazowski.bsky.social · 22/03/2026
You are compleetly oblivious of the exustence of distribution charges which actually have a much higer impact on the final electricity price. This is why LCOE is useless in quest to design affordable low carbon grid.
010
Adam Blazowski @adamblazowski.bsky.social · 22/03/2026
LCOE is a metric for the investor, not a consumer or grid planner. Electricity is not a commodity but essensial social service. This Green neoliberal chatter is removed from realities of power engineering.
